Anyone see car and driver tv today, they realeased there 5 besty truck list here's the link click here. For best pickup the picked the Ford LOL. Even though the Titan won the pickup shootout. This just goes to prove that these magazines are totally swayed by advertising dollars the automakers pay to them. Car and Driver imo can not be considered objective, and due to this major inconsistancy there ten best list and all there other B.S. lists are not even worth the paper there printed on. No big suprise Ford is one of C&D biggest advertisers, just check out the link and you'll see. On the Tv show they even mentioned that the titan won there truck shootout but didn't offer enough options to garner the victory. What a bunch of B.S., never seen that taken into consideration before in there 10 best list or other lists before, garbage, garbage, garbage, at least I know the truth.
I saw it, Total BS, How can the titan win the shootout and not get the best truck award. Has to be money related....advertising dollars? Car and driver has never really made my mind on cars/trucks and this just goes to prove it.
Maybe they mean "engine options", God knows Ford and Chevy don't offer 5 spd. auto's, Navi system, etc. as options.
One of the mags, forget which, had under "What's Not" that the Titan's throttle response was to jumpy - go figure.
I saw the C&D "bests".Certainly $$ influence the decision;there are a hell of a lot of Ford owners who read C&D,if they had picked the Titan over the F-150 again, then there would be a lot fewer readers, and a lot less ad revenue. They aren't stupid, and there primary aim is to sell mags,so they can sell advertising. In their defense, the new F150 is much better-ride,interior,crash tests, power, than their old one.The Titan has a clear edge in power, and in "bang for the buck",but the Ford looks good on paper, and it performed well in most tests.Ford's problem has always been in long term reliability-no way to test that in 1 week-the best way to "guess it" is by looking at past performance-which is why I have a Titan, rather than a Ford,or Ram.
I am adding this later"WE" also did poorly in the JD Powers survey(fairly sure F-150 did better),so we are on thin ice arguing reliability.I saw the JD Powers results, but it didn't turn me off much, most of it is nickel and dime, loose trim ,rattles the type stuffI will fix myself.C&D has a defensible position, the new F-150 line up is a more significant than the Titan- V-6,V-8,Diesels,250's,350's reg cabs,Ext cabs,Crew Cabs, 5'6" beds,6'6" beds,8' beds, all wrapped in a much better, and safer pk than the Heritage. The Titan has more power for the $$, more striking styling, curtain airbags are available on the cheapest vehicle,VDC is easily available, bed options are easily available,Nissan has a lot of "Better ideas",but Ford will sell a lot more trucks to a very wide range of customers. The Titan has a more narrow focus.
Bayou Titan, you were right- on the Titan being a good trip vehicle-550 miles yesterday, very quiet at 70-75,and a surprising 19.3 mpg-all interstate, very little braking.Charlie River Ridge,LA-near New Orleans
PHOEBISIS has it right. You have to read the article if you're interested in the truth. If Nissan were selling 200K vehicles per month, they would have won. Factor in sales AND reality.
I don't have a problem with it. It's capitalism. Caveat emptor. The media is not unbiased. They are also trying to maximize returns - just like the rest of us.
Unfortunately, "maximizing profits" while pretending to be objective and one of the definitive sources of vehicle reviews is unacceptable. They are telling lies, and feeding BS to their readers. How does that profit anyone? Clearly, C&D's credibility has taken a nose-dive.

saw the show to, how pathetic that those bass-turds at car & driver, show the bad-a$$ TITAN jumping sand dunes and then proclaim the over-priced, under powered f150 the winner, what a bunch of meat-hiders... oh well, there's one magazine i want buy, especially now that their magazine is going to be laced with ford advertisement on every other page.
