Worthwhile reading. I liked the comment "Nissan is beefing up its engineering talent". Maybe they can figure out how to have both VDC and the e-locker on the same vehicle.
Well, the report is right on target. Bad news travels fast and public perception matters. Nissan better come up with solutions to annoying issues TITAN owners are experiencing.
I would like to see a breakdown of actual Titan #'s
Interesting reading,I would like to see an actual breakdown of the Titans problems.
Something like
160/problems per 100 Titans
111 squeaks per 100
5 trans per hundred
Well,I couldn't find this at JD Powers site,did I miss it?Thanks,Charlie
Not good news for us Titan owners. Looks as though we may all be making full use of our warranties. I am now going to get an extended warranty for sure. Nissan should get the message (as it will cost them dearly) and get rid of the CEO, Carlos Ghosn.

Interesting reading but it forgets one point. The reason Nissan fell in the quality ratings is because they have 4 new vehicles (actually in completely new segments where they haven't been before), a brand new plant in a state where there was never auto assembly before, and a huge bunch of new employees. Even Toyota would be challenged not to have these problems! In fact, in years where a manufacturer has introduced just one new vehicle, the experts expect them to have a fall in the JD Power ratings.
Also look at when the surveys could have been done. The vast majority of the Titan/Armada surveys had to be down in the first few months of sales. Kinda of skews things when even the F-150 had more time to iron out initial bugs and spread out surveys over more vehicles. The titan was a very late launch for a 2004 vehicle, and this would have affected its results.
All said, though, it was nice to say that alot of the initial problems with the Titan were squeeks and minor things like that.
Personally, I was aware there were going to be problems with a a new vehicle in a new plant in a new manufacturing area, but the truck had enough good points for me not to worry too much about it. I am still glad I made the plunge!

Getting rid of the CEO wouldn't make a lot of sense. He's the guy that turned them around from billions in the red to billions in the bank, and who's regarded as a role model by the big three CEO's. This quality problem (which I personally don't experience - yet?), is just a hiccup for Nissan and their CEO.
Anyway, we should have known we'd have a quality problem - after all, in essence we are driving Renaults

Good point. However, their "billions in the bank" is made at potentially great cost to the consumer, and that process can only be short-term. The article stated that the CEO has forced suppliers to cut their costs (translating into cheaper materials used), and that the workers in the assembly plant in Mississipi are forced to make parts fit--without the experience to do this very well.
In my business, that would translate into a "your out of here"! If this is the corporate philosophy at Nissan, I would predict their eventual demise and their renewed scramble to regain lost customers. Once a company is perceived and labeled as producing a poor or troublesome product, it's long-term prospects are not good. I certainly do not invest my hard earned dollars in companies that have that world-view.
As to driving Renaults--please don't remind me of that French Connection, I think I'm going to be sick.

Please don't flame me but this is the reason I'm holding back. I'm waiting till they tighten up their quality control. I don't have the time or patience to run to the dealer for warranty work for stupid stuff like squeaks and rattles. I think it's a great truck but they need to get the workers to assemble them better.
Hopefully this will not be an all too familiar situation that I see in America lately with big companies and their top executives.
1. Cut corners where ever you can to drive down costs.
2. Raise prices.
2. Avoid or hide problems that will cost you profit margin to fix them.
3. Get profits as high as possible so our bonus and incentives get good and fat.
4. When the bottom falls out of the business, high tail it outta town and live in a huge mansion where nobody knows where to find you.
5. Live happily ever after with bilked customer $$$$$.
i have to say that is a very interesting article but as we all know thier is no such thing as a perfect vehicle. every manufacturer gets complaints every day some where from some one about something all the time. i myself have had my TITAN for well about over 2000 miles and i haven't had a problem. like they their is always a blacksheep in the family that guys armada just happens to be a blacksheep
Geez one guy has an issue with his armada that was purchased the very first month they came out and now all nissan's are junk come on buisness week, how much did Ford pay you to write this one, apparently you've been talking with there "consultant" who took the titan apart, I've gone thru my titan and not witnessed these shortcuts they speak of, maybe they should look at the dodge, the damn radiator doesn't even face straight. This is a pretty baseless attack on Nissan, I'm sure brought forward by another automaker, there basically thrown Nissan to the coals for slipping to 11th on Jd powers little list, isn't this the same list that Mercedes Benz is sitting at 29th.
