Hiyas ... I'm currently in the market for a truck - for "practical" reasons: (my new hunting dog isn't going to fit in the "bed" of my ' 03 350Z much longer). This will be my first "truck".
I've heard some awesome things about the Titan. The voice I trust most is that of current owners. Thanks to you all for sharing your honest experiences and opinions.
You've helped me make a decision: if it has to be a truck - it has to be a Titan.

Appreciate the insight!
could you post a pic of your hunting dog in the back of the 350 w/the hatch closed? I think that would be funny.

ROFL!! Yeah, that would be pretty priceless. Tell ya what, he's at a trainer about two hours from "home" for the next two weeks. He was in serious need of birds and water. There's a good chance I may not have the Z by the time he gets home but if I do, I give you my word I'll certainly meet your request. I didn't realize he'd grow so fast: 16 weeks today and 50lbs. He'd get a kick out of it too! He's ridden everywhere except the drivers seat in the Z. That's reserved for my miniature schnauzer, Holly.
California, I sure wish I could keep the Z, but with the new pup, I'll be paying more to my trainers than my Z note currently is ... on top of the new truck. I sure must love my dogs!
nice looking dog , the lab that is. I have a lab also, good lord has she grown, she could jump up into the bed of my toyota, you should have seen her trying to get in the back of the new Titan, she's either going to have to go on a diet or I'm going to have to make her a ramp to walk up. now she puts her paws on the tail gate and waits on me to lift her big fat *** up to get in.
we should start a lab forum it seems like there are several of us that have one.
by the way congrats on the truck, I love mine.

Hey there, all ... me again. First, thank you for the kind words about my pup(s). Good idea to maybe just create a new discussion off topic where we can post pics of our beasts?
Um, Houston, we have a problem. Okay, first of all: go relieve yourself cause I'm afraid you are about to laugh at me - even maybe spit whatever you are drinking. I'm not just posting to embarrass myself: I, obviously, need all the help I can get.
How do you drive this thing? The dealership gave me one today to "use" for a couple of days to try and convince me to make the move now. Well, I love it - I absolutely love it - but I can't handle it very good. There's such a difference in the small stuff like parking and driving thrus.
I think my husband now has whiplash from shaking his head as he watched me park in the garage. "You're not going to make it" seems to be the phrase de jour. I've already become addicted to the rear sensors that tell me "you're about to hit the fence/trailer/house/trash cans/something else". Short of curb feelers, what's the best way to learn my new perimeter? Any tips from you experts?
If I can't drive through at the bank, I'm going to have to at least be able to park and go in.
I had the car in the attached picture until about a week-and-a-half ago. I _loved_ my 350Z, but I needed something to haul stuff and tow the boat, and my wife needed a new car as well - daughter will be driving soon and needs the high-mileage commuter car. (I'd have kept the Z, but I just couldn't swing three car payments + insurance... last name isn't Rockefeller.) Practicality won, and the Z got traded on a Titan LE KC 4x4 with the works (Big Tow, Off-Road, Airbags and NAV). I bought the XM radio kit and put it in myself - about a 3 hr. job start to finish. (I did a better job than the dealer did with the Sirius kit on the wife's 04 Maxima. )
I miss the Z, but I have to wipe the grin off my face every time I drive the Titan. I love this truck!
(BTW, this Blue-Z-for-Titan thing must be contagious. When I picked my Titan up from the dealer, there was yet ANOTHER blue Track Z parked out front - the owner was trying to trade it for a Titan!)
About driving a big truck around: practice. Lots of practice. Find an empty parking lot with cement islands (no trees or bushes! - your local Wallyworld might do) and practice taking a corner until you don't curb it anymore. Drive-thrus can be a challenge depending on the width of the road and sharpness of the curves. Turn a little later than you normally would, and you'll probably do fine.
Underground parking garages can be particularly fun. I drove into one tonight with a sign that said: Clearance 6' 6". I had to fold my mirrors in to make it through the entrance, and kept waiting with clenched teeth for something to scrape the roof. Nothing happened, but the whole experience had a sphincter factor of about 9.5. Next time: 7' of clearance, or I find another place to park. Period.
Keven(keven's wife?),in about 3-4 weeks it will seem as normal driving it as driving the Z.When I switched from a Tacoma to a Tundra 2 years ago,the Tundra felt like a giant-very tall, and massively wide.In about 3 weeks,it seemed "normal",with all the advantages of the higher seating, safer etc.You will learn to park a bit further out in lots so you don't have to struggle to park(saves on door dents, gets you a bit more exercise, and easier to load). You'll also get a better feel for where your front-rear-sides are relative to where your mirrors and eyes tell you they are.Don't be afraid to get out and look at how close to something you are.It will teach you just how far you can backup etc.
In short,in a few weeks, you will barely notice the size.
Cute dogs all -MR GQ- (the Mini S) -looks awfully comfortable in those glasses-not his 1st time?Charlie
PS Here are my recycled Greyhounds doing what they do second best.Greyhounds aren't supposed to have a belly the same size as their chest like Phoebe(all white) does-.She has put on 25 lbs post retirement.Isis(white-brown) is in the roadkill position.
Well, all ... my thanks again for helping me make the decision - and for sharing your wonderful dawgs with me.
This afternoon I take delivery of my Titan. I got a pretty fair deal on an overloaded 4x2 Deepwater Blue demonstrator that allowed my Z to be paid out and kept me at very close to the same monthly note.
Learning to drive again is the next adventure! I'm excited!
Oh, I guess I should explain the "Keven". That is me ... and I am female. I have parents with wonderful senses of humor, don't ya think?
hi Keven, congrats on the truck I'm sure you will learn to love it.
sorry about my potty mouth on the previous post I didn't know you were a
"GIRL" I should'nt have said my dog had a big fat ***. darn there I did it again.
sorry,
see ya
I LOVE THIS TRUCK! Man, ya'll should have convinced me to make this change months ago! Guess that just proves you're smarter than me.
<<I didn't know you were a "GIRL" I should'nt have said my dog had a big fat ***>> Please, Tn, if that's as bad as it gets, you've already earned your wings. I've had my own mother say that to me when I'd gained some weight. Nothing at all to apologize for.
Tomorrow I'll be claybar-ing, Zaino-ing and figuring out how to best hardwire the radar detector (V-1). Anyone have any suggestions how to best do this in the Titan?
