Exclamation Be careful with the step bars/running boards . . .

Just finished talking with my service writer at the dealership where I bought my Titan. During original prep for delivery, they must have sprayed some "tire shine" on the plastic step pads on the running boards. The overspray has stained (dark stain) the finish of the running boards around the plastic step pads. Nothing that they or I have tried will remove these stains. They are now going to replace my running boards under warranty!!! The service writer also told me that tire cleaner (clean tire or the white lettering) will also fade the finish of the running boards.

Anyway - FYI - be careful with the cleaning products that you use on the running boards, for what it's worth.

-Toyota goofs used motor oil to wet looks tires

The goofs where I bought my Tundra put motor oil all over the sidewalls, and it dripped on the Treads.I called ,thinking it was some sort of mistake, and the sales guy said"all detailers use motor oil on the sidewalls,it looks great"Happened 2 years ago, still pisses me off.Charlie

I had the same problem. I wasn't aware of what the chemical was, but I knew that I was not able to get it off. Mine were this way when I picked the truck up at the dealership, so I assumed the adhesive to hold the plastic steps had overrun at the factory. I had them replaced by the dealer.
