Spare Tire Lock

I recently purchased the spare tire lock from NissanParts247.com and tried to install the lock and am having problems. Anyone else try installing this? There is a white plastic piece that goes around the bolt that you need to install and it doesn't fit in there. Do you have to somehow remove the white plastic?

Also, if anyone has purchased the airbag lock, have you installed it? Mine came but didn't come with a wrench to install/remove it. Any thoughts are greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Party On!

I had the same problem. It comes down to removing the white cone or removing the black "funnel" on the truck. I elected to remove the funnel as it is only 3 push clip to remove and I figured the white cone is probably better at centering the key in the lock than the funnel is. Had no problems engaging the key afterwards.

Same here, that was the solution that was necessary for me too.

Glad (finally done search) to find below 2 possible solutions to Nissan Frontier/Xterra Spare Tire Lock situation. Will go out when cools down and try one more time!

Pete at AutoNation Bankston Nissan apologizied for not know answer right off - probably for item being listed online without all needed to install. He had to get with Nissan to be able to answer above, my same question.

Per Pete:
1. Nissan suggests only be dealer-installed.
2. Only one key. Dealers have.

Think Pete implied could possibly order - would be at additional cost, of course.
Or I could return for full refund. I am returning. Did not inquire about cost of key.
If interested, Pete at: 1-866-754-9634 Parts Mon. - Fri.: 7:30am - 7:00pm
Saturday: 8:00am - 5:00pm Central.

Just noticed on their homepage:

2004 Titan $18,777 6 At this price. MSRP $23,580 - Bankston Disc. $3303 - Rebate $1500. Plus T.T&L. WAC

Have to finance with them to get that price? Shouldn't have to if have cash?
Also, saw other post rebate now $2000 through 11-1-04.

Based on quick calcs. of just-now ConsumerReports
Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price, Dealer Invoice Price, and Consumer Reports Wholesale Price $12 download,
the $18,766 about $1220 below their CRW, which is ~ $405 less than invoice (Total Dealer Invoice - Dealer Holdback).

Their CRWP on a XE 4X2 King Cab Manufacturer Code 11514 Base MSRP $22,400 with $1500 rebate is $20,493. So used 20493/22400 = 0.848 factor on the Bankston $23,580 MSRP to come up with $19,996. $19,996 - 18,766 =
~ $1,220 less than CRWP, ~ $1,640 less than TDI.

Then, less the current additional $500 rebate.
