Prospective Buyers with Audio Concerns:

I factory ordered an SE with no options/packages. I knew that I would want to go aftermarket over and above even the RF craptacular audio. (No offense toward current owners of said crapola. )

Even so I was preparing for the need/expense to gut my dash.

What to my surprise but the stock dash has a typical 2 DIN standard.

YESSSS!

I took delivery yesterday. The picture shows the stock head unit.

I'll take the dash apart tomorrow, and see if replacement is as easier as it appears.

Its great... If you go to the local Nissan dealership you can order that bezel. It is a bone stock XE bezel without the 6 disc audio. It was $40ish. Then you can bolt in an aftermarket stereo with the addition of a pocket if you have a 1 din radio. I will post pictures of mine when I can get some taken.

Exactly, I've never seen a radio like that in a Titan. Mine is completely different.

Im not up with all my car audio terminology. Can someone tell me what a "din" is and what the signficance of it is.

1 DIN is your standard stereo size, the most popular aftermarket size you see. Like so:

1.5 DIN is common in GM in Chrysler Vehicles. A couple companies make aftermarket head units in this size. I had a Pioneer 1.5 DIN in my Blazer:

2 DIN or Double DIN are common in Imports, and usually have a CD and Tape deck:

Clarion (I know you don't want hear about it) makes a double DIN MP3 CD play, as well as Kenwood. The Clarion is $380 and the Kenwood is around $1,400

I have read alot of threads that have been of great use to me, but this one so far takes the cake completely. You have managed to make alot of Titan owners very happy with that little image. You should also post your findings in the modifications section and title the thread something like "aftermarket stereo replacement bezel". It will get plenty of hits. Thanks a whole lot man.

That faceplate looks a tad different. Looks like the A/C controls are shifted to the left a little and there are those two little circles to the right of the controls. DTEK, let us know if you run into any problems hooking up the A/C controls from the older faceplate.

That is freakin awesome. I'd have to check with the stealer because I think my AC stuff is laid out differently.. perhaps due to the Popular Package?

I'll print your picture and compare it to the dash in our Titan.

I'm going to go look in the service manual to see how the steering controls interface to the stock radio.. I may be able to gut a $10 learning remote and place it in the center console, wire the steering controls in and relocate the infrared LED so it points at the aftermarket stereo... which would need to have IR remote capability.

Your plate looks a little different, but I think everything should fit.

You have two dimples on the right side next to the fan output selector, where mine is smooth:

That's the only difference I can see.

None taken.

Is that the stock head unit?

How is the FM?

Can you look at the sticker on the driver's door jamb and find the born on date?

Ok I started a thread in Visual modification and included some pictures for ya. I can take some more of the inside of the bezel and post them up if needed to get an idea on how to mount everything For the question on the bezel...AC, Switches everything mounts up just like the original I had since this is a factory part.
