I finally got brave and did an XM commander install this weekend and this is what I discovered for those of you doing your own stereo install. I copied another members idea of mounting the display on the overhead console. This is the only place other than center console (not easily visible?) if you dont want to have any wires showing. It was really easy to run the wire to this location. First take the 2 screws on the oh-**** handle (drivers side) and then that panel comes out real easy. The little plastic cover on the overhead console where I mounted the display will pop off too...just be careful. Now you can easily run the wire from under the left side of the dash up through the dash to the roof. then you can just use some fish tape from the hole in the headliner (its already there) inside the overhead console over to the door and pull the wire through and your done. I just cut a small hole in the little plastic cover for the cable and mounted the display with 3m tape and popped this back in...that was the easy part. FYI I thought I was going to have to take the entire overhead console down, but after I took out all the screws I could see, it still would not easily come loose and I did not want to force it.

The Commander tuner box easily fits behind the dash under the cd changer
you just need to tap into a hot wire, accessory wire and ground it and you are done.
I really wanted to tap into the back of the aux jack, so that I wouldn't have to run a wire out to plug into the front. If you look back there you will see 3 wires...pretty easy L, R and Ground. A meter will help you find the ground or if your nice...I tried splicing in my cut RS cable and it worked but my Rt side kept flaking out. I must pull out my soldering iron and try this again!
The antenna mounted on the roof in front of the bed lights worked like a charm, but running that wire all the way to the dash was a PITA. Be careful the front door jam plates come out (straight up) real easy, but the rear door ones must slide forward and then up (I cracked one)

Also to get the wire from the headliner under the bedlight over to one of the doors you more than likely will have to take off one of your rear shoulderbelt mounts. This is easy but be careful putting these back on the screws seem like they want to strip really easy. Oh and the front kick panels do not just pop out, way back under there a screw/bolt?? I didnt bother
All together this took me just a couple hours, mostly playing with that aux jack
This really has to be the cheapest way (134$) to get XM into this truck with little or no wires showing. The display is pretty nice at least you get the full artist name and song title unless it is really long. A remote and 30 presets
I may eventually replace the stock head unit, especially with the new dash panel news, but for now this works great!
