For info only...No replys allowed..Tech Discussion w/Nissan
After the initial thread has now gone nowhere productive. I am posting this info only as a result of the meeting. This thread will be stuck and closed immediately. No responses are required nor desired. For those of you that thanked RR for bringing forward issues. I commend you. For those that turned it into a character debate I invite you to read the rules posted just the other day in the very top forum.

Results of Titan Technical meeting
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
NOTE: I have no information beyond what is posted here so don't ask me about this or that. I cannot speak for Nissan.
First off, I met with the Technical Sales Manager from the Product Engineering Investigations Division.
We discussed those things I liked and disliked about the Titan and those things that should be fixed or redesigned.
I want to let everyone know the results of the discussion.
Regarding the radio issues. While it is true that the majority of the components are not Rockford-Fosgate, what makes the system "Powered by RF" is that RF designed the specifications of the system and then the parts were manufactured by the other companies to those specs.
The FM fade is designed into the system. What this means is that the radios were designed to fade from Stereo to Mono and back to Stereo to reduce the "railroading" (static and hicupping) which occurs when stations fade in and out. I was told that while Nissan is aware of and understands the frustration of the owners, there is no fix for the problem at this time. There might be one in a 'year or so', but at this time they are not working on anything to eliminate this problem. I told them that this is in direct opposition to what we are hearing from 1-800-NISSAN1.
I asked about playing MP3's in the CD and they asked me if any other manufacturers had this option. I explained that I took an MP3 CD when I shopped for vehicles and the Titan was the only vehicle above $30K that didn't have that option built in.
I asked about the disparity with the volume levels between AUX, Radio and CD. They will look into it.
I explained that numerous people have called 1-800-NISSAN1 to complain and are getting told that a "fix for the fade is on the way", "Nissan has no idea what you are talking about", "I will look into it and get back to you", etc. I asked that they work on a consistant answer and get the call center the correct information.
Now on the hood denting issue, they stated that the material used in the hood and roof is thinner to reduce weight. Most of the weight of the vehicle is lower than the midline of the vehicle to help in handling. When you close the hood, simply let it fall. It is heavy enough that you should not need to press down on it. It is designed this way.
As far as the warped rotors, they are working on a replacement for the calipers. They are working with a new company and these are going to be available at the dealership shortly. The problem was the lack of lubrication in the calipers not overtorquing of the rims. The calipers wouldn't release properly.
I asked them about the weight of the tailgate and they said that is something they are aware of. They have a couple of people that have been hurt by it so they are already working on it.
I asked about lighting the steering wheel controls, the window controls on the door, an option to auto-lock the doors at 15mph or have it customizable via the electronics options on the Nav System, power folding mirrors, power adjustable lower mirrors and an auto-closing sunroof when turning off the ignition. They will look into all of these ideas but they are going by survey data when they design these features. IE: Only 20% of their respondents want auto-locking doors.
I asked about the reason for not protecting the lower radiator and about installing a billet in that area. They told me that the engine needs to air flow and adding a billet to cover 'might' void the dealer warranty if it caused a problem that could be traced back to reduced air flow. I left that one alone after that comment as I was not prepared to argue about the warranty.
Rattles and squeaks: take it to the dealer and have them look at it. The warranty should cover any work necessary.
Uneven tire wear: Check your air pressure and alignment, it is not their problem.
VDC: It takes over 2 years to program a VDC system (done by an outside company) and there are no plans to make it available with the E-Locker system. The two options are in opposition to each other which is why they are not available together.
Options when buying a vehicle: I asked them to look into the bundled options and maybe reevaluate some of them.
LEDs reflected in the rear window: first time they heard of it. I told them it makes backing up at night a little difficult. They will look into it.
Bumpers uneven: QC issue, will be looked into.
Bedliner: No issues brought to their attention so far.
Back-up Sensors: Take it to the dealer and have them test it. I proved it on the spot with them watching and they are going to look into the programming at the factory.
Orange Peel: Factory paint jobs are designed to include orange peel to enhance the 'reflectivity' of the paint.
Brake dust: Every vehicle has brake dust. Nothing they can do about it. Maybe a different brake pad would help.
I explained that I loved the Titan and almost everythig about it. I praised the design team and those involved in marketing (I did ask them to get some more commercials on TV), explained how I use the vehicle in my volunteer work (they loved the lights), how the size of the rear seating area is incredible and that the dual direction folding seat are well designed. I praised the storage box and bed lighting as innovative. I explained that the engine and power of the vehicle was one of the reasons I was interested in it. I told them I liked the sound dampening inside the cabin. I told them I look forward to driving anywhere when I know I am going to be doing it in the Titan.
Finally, they do read the forums and see the issues. However, they are not allowed to use the information in the threads to do anything as they do not include the VINs. There is no way to prove that the person posting the information actually owns a Titan. I understand this and said I would ask if people would be willing to include their VINs when they post issues and problems. This is up to each of you.
