Towing Question

Just got my Titan 4x2 LE CC last week with the Big Tow package and I have a towing question. The manual states that NO towing should be done until 500 miles. I am currently at 200 miles and next weekend I need to tow a UHaul 6x12 trailer about 800 miles. Total weight of trailer and contents should not exceed 3000lbs. While I will be trying to get to 500 miles by the time I need to tow, I am not sure I will get there. Does anyone think I will have a problem if I don't get to the 500 miles before I tow.

Thanks

I think it would be almost impossible for anyone that has a new Titan not to be able to put 300 more miles on it in a week's time.

Had a feeling someone would say that, and you're right. But I am going to Disney World this weekend and I need to take the other vehicle as we need to fit 8 people. So that leaves next week and part of that week the Titan will be in the dealer to fix some post delivery issues.

I can't tell from your profile where you live but you could drive two vehicles to Disney and use the trip to break in your Titan. Different folks could trade out riding in the Titan with you and it would free up some space in the other vehicles.

Also, you could let someone you trust that doesn't have a lead foot, to drive your Titan while you are gone.

Here's my thinking on this: The Titan's motor requires 1200 miles (per manual) to break in. That tells me that Nissan doesn't do much of a pre-break in. You start towing with a motor that's 300 miles "young" and you risk damage to the rings from a load before they're cut in to the cylinders. Also, there are parts in the tranny and rearend that aren't broken in yet. They (Nissan) want any weird metal shavings and other such stuff to be worn off before a load is put on the drivetrain.

Dude, go out tonight and road trip around for a couple of hours. Hell, I put 300 miles on my truck the first night I had it. Loaded up the wife, the dog and a cold Pepsi and went drivin'!

Live in Miami FL. DW is only 230 miles away, guess I could do that but i hate to pay for that much gas withthe gas prices the way they are. Good suggestion though. Thanks
