The reason they do this is that some cleaners will actually harm the injectors. Unfortunately Nissan doesn't tell us what chemicals to check for in the cleaners, so, yes, about every 50-60,000 miles you might have to get yours cleaned. My local shop charges $60 for this, so it's obviously not a big deal.
What would be a worse thing is to go using something bad for the injectors. The old fashioned way? Shoot in a tank of Super (gasp-the price-my heart!

) every so often. There are fuel system cleaners in the expensive fuels that aren't in the less-expensive grades.
