For some reason the raised white lettering on my stock Goodyear tires are not white anymore. I have noticed this on some of the pictures of trucks I have seen posted by members on Titan Talk. Scrubbing them helps very little. I don't know what causes this. I haven't had this problem on other tires I have owned. I don't go off road and I haven't been scuffing my tires against curbs. Can you repaint the raised lettering and does it look good?

Mine have the same problem. I guess it could be due to the excessive brake dust.

There is a product out there known as (I know I am gonna spell this wrong) Westley's Bleach White. It is designed for cleaning raised white letters on tires. I personally have never used it, but I know a guy that does and his letters always look great. It can be found at Automotive parts stores.

Guys, be careful with the bleach white! If not rinsed THOROUGHLY, it's small residue gets in the little crevices of wheels and just eats them up like acid.
This product has been around for a long time, and I used it on my TransAm white letter tires. It did a great job, but a year later, I started noticing the deterioration of the aluminum wheels.
Today's aluminum wheels are coated with better materials than my TransAm's, but why chance it if you could use a Scotch Bright pad and not hurt your wheels(or Rinse/Rinse/Rinse).
Just IMHO

I can't see mine anymore either. Oh wait, that's right. I actually had the dealer reverse the tires for me and had the white letters turned in.
I used to work at a tire shop and over time, I realized that most if not all cars look better with the white letters (and white walls for that matter) turned in, especially because if you don't keep on top of them they get dirty too easily.
Heck, even when they are clean I still think that solid black walls look better than the white letters.
I guess its just personal preference though. Good luck.
I spray the tires with simple green and scrub them. White letters get good as new, and the tires stay clean (I've grown out of using tire dressing because they look great for a day, then they look terrible.. even without driving on a gravel road)
Thanks guys for your responses. I owe all of y'all a beer. I scrubbed the lettering with ScotchBrite and they look new again. I had been useing a scrub brush with lots of elbow grease and when that didn't work at all, I didn't try anything else. I wanted to take some before and after pics but I left my digital camera at work.
