Hey guys, Ive owned my Titan for just about 3 weeks now, and it was vandalized last week, i was visiting a small town for a rodeo (no i'm not a hick) lol.. Lucky me, someone jumped up on my hood with some cowboy boots, jumped around and dented/pushed in my hood. Didnt figure the 6" lift would allow for such tight jeans and boots to conquer it.
Anyway, filed police report, claimed it on insurance. they are coming to look at it tomorrow morning, Body shop guy told me to push for a new hood, because there are so many dents and its pushed down bad on drivers side. Here is my dilemma. I need to get the hell out of this town (moving), so i am trying to get it done ASAP. Ive found that an OEM hood is going to run about 428 bucks plus likely overnight shipping of 150, I am pretty picky with my vehicles and want it to fit well, but aftermarket hoods seem like they can be found much much cheaper. Does anyone have any experience or tips they could pass along so that i may expedite this process and return my truck back to its original state? Thanks.
You have the right to request OEM replacement. If they persist on getting the hood "repaired" don't sign the settlement until you are satisfied. You don't have to accept the repair until it is perfect.
Lol, Something like that.. I didnt even have plates on it yet.
My last truck was a Chevy, but this is my second Nissan product, I had a g35 coupe a few years ago.
I keep imagining that I walk up and catch someone dancing on my hood,
for whatever reason it doesn't matter. I pull out a gun and order him off.
He gets off the hood and I shoot him in one or both feet.
"There you're dancing days over!"
Lol, the cop asked me how irate i would have been if i would have peeked out the window while it was happening, I told him he probably wouldnt like my answer, and he replied with -I would feel the same way.
Your post is a little confusing. So you're moving out of the town you were just visiting for a rodeo? I'd just wait till you can get to a bigger town or home and have it replaced with an OEM hood and professionally painted so it matches/blends with the fenders. When you're in a hurry with things like this the outcome is rarely a good one...
Mostly moved, but with family right now back here. Family knows a bodyshop that has been around for a long time and he does good with paint, So was going to let him do it being that he said he could have it done in half a day once the hood arrives.
Just kind of wondering what the best and most cost effective route is to getting a hood in a decent time.
Depending on the color, they're definitely going to have to do a color match blend into the fenders. That's some crazy stuff though! Some rodeo cowboy hick doing the heel and toe on your Titan hood....and with a 6" lift no less? Yeah, sure sounds like they targeted your truck because it's an import.
I don't think you're going to be able to fix the stock hood. The sheetmetal is just too thin to fix vandalism like that. Was anything damaged inside the engine compartment?
I'd stick with an OEM Nissan hood unless you want to get an aftermarket custom hood.
Man that sucks... probably some white trash ******* that drives a 1984 silverado that he can hardly keep running. Give a person like that some alcohol and the jealous rage comes out of them and they do things encouraged by their just-as-drunk-and-just-as-dumb friends. Hopefully they replace the hood completely because it would just bother me knowing that something on my truck has been repaired.
i love my hood. it fits well......well it does now with just a little tweaking. i have seen the hoods from the same company fit good and bad. i had a goodmark hood on my s10 and it fit like a glove without any tweaking. the reflexxon hood i have now was a little high on one side but a little sanding on the underside fixed it. if yo do go aftermarket make sure you fit it on your truck and get it how you want it b4 any painting. in the pic there is a gap above the pass headlight that is gone. 10 minutes with some sand paper on the underside fixed it.....i need new pics...and a truck wash lol
