Local dealer tells me that they can't take away certain bed options (extender, sliding tray, divider) from a CC 4X4 LE that just came in today.
I don't need these things but really like the truck (even though it's not the one that I ordered). Am I getting jerked around or is this standard operating procedure?
BTW, he said they could add the splashguards from another vehicle on the lot but couldn't take away anything. What the hell????
I think he is just jerkin you around. On the Nissan website, this stuff comes as "accessories". Seems to me very simple to take it off the truck, and take it off the sticker price as well. I think he just wants you to pay the extra $750 sticker price for that crap.
Those 3 items - extender, divider, and tray - are invoiced "options" (just like side air bags, etc.) that appear on the sticker from the factory. They are not "accessories" like splash guards or hood protector. I changed my mind on the divider and tray after I had placed my order, but by the time I told the dealer, my truck was on it's way from the factory. Too late to "delete" so I just lived with it and now they're sitting in my garage. I may get around to selling them, as other people have done here, or I may just save them to sell with the truck down the road.

Well say it ain't so... He is just jerking you around. It's not that he can't it's just that the doesn't want to...
I would put these things in the accessory category, you can add and remove them at will. They are not built into the truck. If he really wants to sell the truck to you he will remove them if you push hard enough. He probably figures that you will take it all and give him a few hundred more bucks or he will just wait and sell it to someone else who will.

My truck had some of those items and they were indeed accessories. They took them out without any objection. If they are not included on the original sticker then they are dealer added.

Mine had the bed extender and floor tray on the sticker. They also had a tool chest in there as a dealer add-on. I told them to get it all out. Didn't want it or need it. My suggestion would be to tell them, if they want to sell a truck then agree to your terms, else you'll go to another Nissan dealership that will give you what you want.

mine had the bed extender and the bed divider in it. I told them I really didn't need them but otherwise the truck was exactly like the one I wanted, and that I would rather just order one exactly like that without the extender and divider.
It took them about 2 seconds to say they would just give me those 2 items if I would buy the one they had on the lot.
Here's how this works. If your truck comes from the FACTORY with an installed option it will show up on your sticker. The dealer will have to do some paperwork to sell those items to their own parts department etc. So the dealer is telling you the truth. He cannot just remove the items willy-nilly. However, he can remove them if you make it a deal-breaker. It's just a PITA for the dealer so he's going to be less willing to negotiate on other areas if you make him do that.
They will pull them out if it is a deal breaker, but you'll still pay the same price you would have with them in the truck.Your demanding they be removed, and the price dropped in line with the removal, just means there was more negotiating room on the price.
Never ask to have them removed, just say you don't want them, and start heading for the door. They will drop the price, and make less $$ to keep the sale, and not have to fool with sticking them on another truck.Luck,Charlie
When I went to pick up my Titan, the Salesman said that he couldn't take the bed extender, or the sliding bed tray out. I told him that I had absolutly no need for them and he said he couldn't take them off since they were on the sticker. I then told him that I didn't want the truck, and that I would go to a dealer that had the truck I wanted. He told me he could get the lower price, and dropped the price $1600. Couldn't turn him down then!!! Anyway at first I didn't want any of that stuff, but I've been using the bed extender, and it comes in handy sometimes. You might change your mind later. Good luck with your purchase!
