I have noticed this on several occasions when it was brand new. Since I've been using it every day it has gone away. Also noticed the cooling fan sounds like a plane taking off.

Not exactly sure but almost sure if you are hearing that sound in your cab that is your evaporator. That's basically a normal sound. All vehicles have that sound some louder then others. Also there will be times you may hardly hear it at all and other's quite noticeable.

I've heard it too. But it's gone away with time. I now have 3k on the truck. Haven't heard since about 2k.

Thanks! Is there a clutch on the compressor?

I wonder if there is a clutch on the compressor, and I heard it slamming home?Never heard any car AC make such a clunk.Of course, maybe turning the AC on was a coincidence, and something else was clunking.Sure seemed like the AC.Thanks,Charlie

My Titan does the same thing. First time I heard the noise it freaked me out a little. It doesn't always make the clunking sound; just periodically & the AC cools nicely. My Z3 does the same thing only it isn't quite as loud. I've also noticed the compressor in my '72 Monte Carlo makes a loud clicking sound as does my bud's '69 Camaro. I guess they all have their own quirks!

If it keeps up Phoebisis and you want peace of mind, take it in and let the dealer check it out. Keep us posted.

I've just noticed when the auxilary cooling fan kicks on for cool air circulation it is louder than most I have heard. It is audible inside the vehicle with the windows up, but outside of the vehicle it is downright loud. Neither of these issues is overly concerning to me since the vehicle is under warranty, but these items are noticable enough to think they might be abnormal.
