Question Tie Straps and Bungey Cords?????????

I have only the 4 tie-downs in each corner of the bed and was wondering what would be a good combination of straps/cords w/ sizes (lengths) for normal occasions where I may need to strap something down. I don't care to go buy a "bunch" of items where a few would suffice.

Steve,
I have 6 cheap nylon strap tie downs, adjustable from about 1 foot to 6 foot in my side tool box. Walmart or Target or Pepboys, work great. Everything from Honda scooter to footlocker. Love the utilitrac tiedowns.

Get a few ratchet straps in various lengths. Don't trust bungie cords to actually hold anything down except for the lightest of items.

I bought several of the 1,500 lb. capacity ratcheting straps from Academy Sports in the RV section. I have an extra heavy load strap that is about 4" wide but I like the smaller capacity ones better. The high capacity ones are not needed because if you need that much strength you will pull the Utilitrac channels right off the bed when you ratchet them down. The big ones are for strapping pallets or other heavy loads on flatbead trailers. I think you are better off in numbers rather than lb. capacity and if you get the 1,500 lb. capacity straps, you will be able to store lots of them in the side box. Some of the small capacity straps have flimsy nylon webbing. I bought the flimsy kind at Home Depot then I found the ones with stronger, heavier webbing at Academy sports. I keep different lengths of rope in my Titan as well. Some things are easier to tie down with rope rather than straps. I use a short length of rope to tie my 5 gal gas can to the Utilitrac cleats to keep it from falling over and spilling gas.

Try this company. They are really good. They have individaul straps as well as racheting ones and a bed net.
