I have been reading this forum for about a week now and you all seem to be pretty good people.
Took a Titan and F150 out today. Gotta say the Titan is just so fun to be in control of! To me it combines all the feel of a big truck with fun of a sports car. My dad has a FX45 and honestly, although it cant go around corners at 60(km) like the FX it almost feels as fun to drive.
The F150 was good as well but felt to... mature.. I think. It had the 5.4L and Although I found the exceleration to be more responsive (only off the line and only for a second) it still felt like a pick up, nothing special.
I have a 98' F250 now (non super duty, last year they made that style of 250) and had a 98'F150 before that. But now, gulp, Im... changing... brands!
I'll be ordering a Titan CC LE in smoke with the DVD, Nav packages. BTW Why do you have t get a DVD player when all you want was the Sunroof... Actually probally so some guy like me comes along and says "Well if paying for the DVD package might as well get the NAV" Good old go big or go home thinking.
Well anyways, Just wanted to say thanks to everyone here for their posts, it's nice having a lot of info before you buy.
Dude, welcome. You a big Metallica fan, or you just got another reason for your name?
I think you're right about the package, they just want a reason to jack up the price. You're definitely not the 1st guy to complain about the bundle, and definitely won't be the last.
Surprised you think the ferd has good giddy-yap, even if it was only for 1/2 second. Most I hear is slow, underpowered, and very simply - snail-like. Either way, congrats on switching over, and I hope everything works out well for you!!!!!

Funny you shoud mention that, Dan. I was wondering the exact same thing.

You say the Ford was "mature." When my wife went with me to look
at the Titan, after I'd narrowed my search, she summed it up just right
when she saw the Titan and said "Boy, that truck has 'Attitude'."
Well that "Attitude" is now setting in my garage.
Yes you do have to get the DVD to get the Sunroof. To get the Sunroof you have to get the Nav system. I didn't need the DVD so the dealer didn't charge me for it when I told him it was a deal breaker.

I too drove both vehicles. I drove the Ford first, and loved it, then I drove the Titan which completely blew the Ford away in every aspect. I think mainly I like the titan's V8 coupled with the 5 speed tranny. there's always the right gear there for you compared to the Ford's screaming in one gear, then bogging in the next.

MIke
I drove the Ford, Chevy and Nissan, all on the same day. I remember my impressions being something like this:
Ford: Precise brakes (feel). Precise handling. Not great seats. Cool dashboard. This is 300 HP? Feels like 225. Back seat not comfy (CC). Bed sides too tall. Kinda boring looks (that's just my opinion). Heavy.
Chevy: Drives nice. Accellerates well(not fast, but definitely adequate). Steering imprecise, but tracks great on highway. Seats rock. Easy to load (low tailgate). Nice stereo. Buying this truck wouldn't make me "feel" like I bought a new car.
Nissan: Holy crap is this fast. Holy crap is it roomy. Holy crap is this fast. Nice seats. Crappy radio. I'm grinning like an idiot. This thing is smooth. Nice mirrors. Neat features.
For me, the Nissan was the one that generated "excitement", the Chevy felt like a comfy pair of shoes, and the Ford just didn't fit me. It's still a nice truck, though.
I am a Metallica fan, but that's not the basis for my name. Last name is Batt.
Let me clarify mature: I wasnt driving my truck more like my Dads or Grandpa's truck.
I agree the Titan is full of attitude, can't wait to get it!! And witht the acceleration response I mean this: I feel the Titan delayed a second when pressing the pedal, the ford didn't. Not a big deal at all and just one guys interpetation.

You hit that one on the HEAD!!!! Exactly my thoughts!

I feel the hesitation you're talking about. But it's more like the engine is building up revs then taking off. Thats instead of just torquing out at low RPMs. Can't say if I like it or not. From a dead stop she rips, but you're right, canning it at speed there's definatly a hesistation while it shifts down and builds revs.

I never really put my finger on it, but yea thats it - I actually got scared a little first time that happened thinking it was gonna blow! Runs like a scalded dog when you punch it: just really roars for a bit, then it fiinds a gear and sort of snaps your head bolting out of there. I've never really 'punched it' that often because it goes plenty fast driving other ways.
Battery, congrats on the purchase, you'll love driving this truck.
You guys are talking about a slight pause when you nail it in a roll-on? That I've noticed. From a dead stop though, the thing will break your neck. It messes me up abit when I jump behind the wheel of the wife's Volvo SUV. It's the double turbo but you get a touch of lag. I'm used to tires squawking so I go light on the Volvo's gas pedal and always feel like, "Wtf, did I stall?" Then those turbos hit and WHOOSH. I'll take the low end grunt we have though anyday.
