Newer Titans and Older Titans!

I just wanted to see about those of us with earlier Titans having any problems like the trucks made Feburary and on. Mine was made in first week of November 2003 and I don't have any problems.. I'm talking about the dash squeaks/rattles, power windows, tailgate emblem/cover coming loose, door mouldings loose, upper storage compartments cracking, sunvisor stitching coming loose or seat stitching, warped rotors, check engine light, tranny problems and so on... My truck has been rock solid, but I know it was made to be put on dealer showroom floor for people to see when it first came out.. I just wonder if the early productions had better Q&A since they would be the show piece for consumers..

lol LK, I was actually thinking about it opposite of you - that the earlier production models were the ones with the majority of problems - you know the whole learning curve deal.

My build date was 03/04 and I also have none of the above mentioned problems - particularily no squeks and rattles, even though I have had it offroad a couple times already for some extended periods.

That's funny!! I just see so many here talking about problems there having with their truck... I know we are getting new members everyday, I was just thinking that maybe there pushing the trucks out the door to meet deadlines and not giving them a good look over..

Sammy, do you still have a piece of paper in the pocket on the back of
the driver's seat? If not, do you still have the window sticker? Chris told
me that was how to find the birthday, and luckily, I still had the paper in
the storage pocket. It shows the time and date along with month/year.

I dont have the time and date stamp in my back pocket, but I have the month/year: 12/03. While installing my subwoofer today, I saw my carpet was stamped. It said, "bottom flooring 11/03". I know when my floor was built.

Here were my problems, all were fixed:
-Service engine light - ECU needed to be reset
-Brake problems - brake booster was replaced
-Dash rattles - Fixed
-Tailgate emblem and assembly loose - Replaced black piece, tape, clips, and emblem

Thats it so far.

No, I didn't have that piece of paper, and my window sticker is MIA. I did however find the sticker on the bottom right side of the driver's door opening.

Born on 03/04 (didn't give a day). Only problem is the radio fade.

Sammy when you say radio fade does it happen when your driving or does you volume raise and lower?

If you are thinking SSV, you'd be wrong. It's actually the same problem that many others are having with the RF radios. Poor quality that cuts in and out, but only when listening to FM. It's both volume and quality that are affected. Problem occurs sitting still, driving, in park, at night, during day, full moon, half moon, and whenever the key is in the ignition.

I have my window sticker here but dont see the born on date. The door says 03/04.
I have the radio fade and the a/c compressor is really loud when it kicks on, only when the a/c hasen't been run for a while. 1500 miles now. 13.8 mpg

My born on date is 12-18-03.
My radio problem is the same as Sammy's, and I notice it more when
I'm out the sticks. My front splash guards are loose, but otherwise
no additional problems.

B.O.D.11-18-03 If you have your window sticker it is listed on the bottom middle as:"031118" and matched the slip in the rear driver's seat pocket.

Few quality control issues: leather on front passenger door trim + door weather-stripping on same side replaced under warranty.

Low gear oil in differential.

Poor Clarion Rockford And Panasonic radio reception

Everything else is good, no squeeks, rattles, cracks, bed-liner, rotors, seats, etc. as of yet. Purchased 12-14-03.

Great truck

I just test drove me seventh Titan this weekend. The compartment that holds your sunglasses would stick and make a horrible pop sound when you went to close it. The front seat rattled along with a few other squeeks on the highways. Also the back of the truck seemed to shimmy a little on the highway. 6 out of the 18 titans on the lot had the dent in the hood. I have noticed these things on the past few titans I have driven...not a huge deal, but issues hopefully nissan will correct!
