This weekend when I test drove ANOTHER Titan, I really noticed my body wanted to slide off of the seat when I was taking a long right turn on a on-ramp to the highway. I wasn't taking the turn abnormally fast and it just felt like the seat could have supported my body better to keep it from sliding. Has anyone else noticed a lack of support in their capton seats?
Nope, no problems, no sliding, really comfortable and fits me just fine.
How big is YOUR seat???

I feel that the captain seats have a little excessive forward lean to them, but the lateral support seems fine. Others have fixed this "going downhill" problem with spacers. As far as the lack of lateral support, nothing can be done short of replacing the whole seat.
I really like the feel of the captain seat. It holds me in place on corners, even at high speed, and I don't notice my back getting as sore when I use the lumbar support properly. No sliding forward either.

I've been commenting on this for some time. First time I noticed this I was actually in an Armada...such a huge vehicle and the seats were real spongy and unsupportive, both sides and front. There also seems to be a gap between the lower seat and the seatback...I could actually feel a little draft coming thru this. For a vehicle that's targeted at "big guys" and off-roading, it sure would be nice to have some real seats. Of course everything pales in comparison after driving Acura's...they have to have the best stock seats.
Bigger problem is that side airbags and weight sensors are installed in the seats, making them a little more difficult to replace.
I think a "Performance Seat" pkg. would be a good way for Nissan to make a few extra $$ in the 05 release. Of course you'd need to buy the Off-Road Package and the Utili-Track Package...and it wouldn't be available in the LE...
I have started a seat recall campaign on two Armada forums. It is really noticable on on the front passenger seat as the LE w/leather only has a 6-way seat. While the driver as a 8-way. For some unknown reason the back of the seat bottom can go up and down but the lowest down setting makes the seat level. Why you would want the back of the seat bottom higher than the front???
Call the Nissan Consumer Affairs (www.nissanusa.com) contact us
with your VIN and complain.
Of course you should put some "seat" time as a passenger which might be difficult for some of you

This was the problem I was also refering to. I've got the back as low as it will go, but it still feels as though I'm sitting level. I prefer the back of the seat to be lower to feel like I'm actually "in" the seat and not about to slide out. My mother's Toyota Avalon's seats have the same amount of adjustments, but they are far more comfortable cause you can tilt the seat down in the back so that you feel planted and your legs have more support. Seems the only way to solve this problem in the Titan/Armada is to put spacers under the front of the seat bolts or install a leveling kit.

My wife has complained about this "downhill" problem in the passenger seat, she says she feels like she's going to slide off. I have no complaints with the driver's side.
Somewhat related, when I slid into the passenger seat (the edge of the seat, actually) once to remove something from the glove box the seat started moving forward and didn't stop until it had reached it's limit. The back of the seat folded forward, too. I felt like I was trapped in a trash compactor. This hasn't happened since then, I'm wondering if maybe the internal wires got pinched or something?
No, you probably leaned on the adjustment nobs. I've done this a couple times when sliding in or out, or leaning in to get something. I notice the "downhill" problem from my seat, but I rarely have passenger, so I wouldn't know if the problem is the same from the passenger seat.
I have also noticed this problem with my Titan. The bolster on the outside (left side) of the driver's seat is considerably lower than the right side bolster. I feel like I am going to slide off the seat when I make right hand turns. Also, I find the seats to be too soft and unsupportive for me. I found this to be especially true on a long, out-of-town trip recently.
I went back to my dealers' service department, and the service manager immediately noticed the outside bolster was flat. He insisted the entire seat cushion would need to be replaced. It might take awhile though, as Titan replacement parts seem to be few and far between. Its been nearly two weeks and the parts manager still doesn't know when the new seat will arrive.
I agree with others who think the front passenger seat is too flat and unsupportive. My wife can't stand riding in my Titan, and she wishes I had my '01 Ford Supercrew back! The Ford seats were very comfortable and supportive. I may see my local seat specialist who said he can replace the foam with something firmer and with a more comfortable shape.
