big tow mirrors + narrow alley = $55 part

Guess I need to get used to width of the Titan with the BT mirrors. Anyhow, the front chrome/plastic mirror cover on the passenger side mirror got scratched pretty badly. The replacement part was $55, but I can't figure out how to remove the old cover. I imagine I need to remove the mirrors and motor first, anyone have any ideas? or a service manual that details how?

Thanks!

saw one at the dealer and the chrome was not installed. They looked like snap on parts to me.

I have to replace the entire passenger side big-tow mirror and housing. The pin holding the front piece to the housing broke off and there is no way to fix it. Fortunately it is under warranty as the entire housing and mirror are going to cost near $300.00. Just not sure how long it will take to get a replacement.

What is interesting is that the pin just broke off, nothing hit it unless someone walked up to it and pulled on it. There are no scratch marks on it anywhere.

From what I can tell on the new part, there are 4 tabs that lock into the housing. But as far as I can tell, I can't reach the tabs to depress and release them without removing the mirror.
