Why should Nissan have to flip the bill for a mass air flow sensor that was ruined by a missused K&N, they will not and don't have too.
'cause the bastards won't fix my freakin radio! SOBs must pay! Hey my K&N filter's dad could whip your paper filter's dad.

It is my understanding also that if a non factory user serviceable part, eg., air filter or oil filter, can be proven by the dealership that it caused damage to another part of the vehicle, then the repair is not covered by warantee. In that case the user would need to seek remedy from the serviceable part manufacturer, eg. K&N. As well, if you over oil that can lead to MAF failure and neither Nissan nor K&N are liable (as it should be). I've used K&N for many years with no problems so far.

Be aware that there is a technical advisory issued by Nissan that aftermarket air filters are not fitting correctly and are allowing dirt bypass into the air intake system causing problems. Nissan will not cover these improper fit air filter related problems. This would be a good case where the owner would need to seek resolution with the manufacturer. When I asked which air filters/Nissan models I was told it is multiple brands (but no names given) and is happening mostly on Altima's and Maxima's. There is a visible dirt leakage trail from some air filters being a couple of millimeters too short. Just FYI.

Cheers

Just so you guys know....they said that the warranty wouldnt cover the replacement of the MAF. And no...I am not a K&N rookie....I have had one in every one of my vehicles for the past 12-15 yrs....and seeing as how the filter is brand new.....i didnt over oil it....ripped it out of the package and jammed it in the truck. I did find it interesting that someone mentioned that because of the increased air flow that it may cause a stutter...., would unplugging the battery and letting it sit for a while to reset the ECU help?,

Again I thank you all....and any more advice would be appreciated.....by the way....rotors and pads are being replaced next week....free by the dealer....after a lot of *****ing and complaining....but because I printed off the pages on this site....the Service manager called Nissan USA and called me back sheepishly and said they would be replacing them, not machining them.....thanks again.

Guy

same thing for aircharger

just paid 85 dollars becuase the aircharger made by k&n caused my computer to turn on the service engine soon light and they saw i had a k&n aircharger on it with wrap and they said it would void my warranty and the kit messed with the codes in the ecm and it missed and gulped and choked out and they said it would take 100-200 miles of driving for the titan to learn the new settings and all i have had with it is trouble avoid the problems and use the stock intake with the banks exhaust with mobil 1 super syn and you will be jamming!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wow, for $85 bucks you could've bought an OBD2 scanner to read your codes yourself...

Re: K&N Filter and Mass Air Flow Sensor

thats why i plan on just replacing my k&n filters every 20,000 or so instead of cleaning the same one..they come pre-oiled from k&n and i would think that they are safe to use that way.

Re: K&N Filter and Mass Air Flow Sensor

here is a pic i took today of my MAF. i have been running a Volant CAI for about a year and a half now. cleaned and reoiled several times over. no visible signs of any oils or unwanted buildup on my MAF. if you do this right you shouldnt worry really.

Re: K&N Filter and Mass Air Flow Sensor

Man, this **** scares me. I've had my K&N Filter for probably 8k miles now and thus far no issues.

Hopefully I have no issues...

Re: K&N Filter and Mass Air Flow Sensor

Gentlemen..... interesting topic. check out my post Bad discovery about a popular air filter!!

I had the same Issue as TitanNorth. however, Nissan won't cover the Warranty on the K&N Filter, EVEN THOUGH THEY SELL THEM AT THE NISSAN PARTS DEALER!!!!

How Ironic!
