sheetmetal

anyone care to elaborate on the thickness of the sheetmetal on the titans. i traded an 04 dodgeram cc hemi for this truck. both trucks are within 1-2 hundred lbs. of each other, but all of the panels on the dodge seemed sturdier, i always felt like if i pushed on it to hard, it would not hurt a thing, not so with titan. for the intended use, it seems very fragile.

Agreed. All of the body metal is thin. The hood and roof are exceptionally thin.

Only time will tell how this all holds up.

With all this talk about the thickness or thinness of the hood, when I had the 3M clear cover put on, I know the installer put a lot of pressure on the hood. I have no dents, dimples or distortions as discussed by others after simply closing the hood with their hands.

All the talk about the hood and roof sheet metal is getting old. My neighbor has a new Ford F150 crew, and it's hood and roof don't seem to be stronger (but did seem to be "quieter") than on the Titan. Real numbers are needed to put this issue to rest.

When I had my RockBlocker put on (clear bra), he used quite a bit of force, and pushed on specific spots with his scraper tool... No dents or waviness.

Roy, the problem with the hood has to do with putting your hand on the
curved area when closing it. The metal will sink in if your hand is still in
contact with it when the hood slams shut. As long as you are the only one
who ever opens and closes the hood, and you keep your hands off that
area, you shoudn't have any problem. Some of these guys have noticed
hood dents after getting their truck back from the dealer; that tells me
that some of Nissan's service techs still have much to learn about the
Titan. The thin metal on the hood and everywhere else is fine. I even
noticed some type of backing material that they put on the inside rear
quarter that is obviously intended to stop the thin stuff from vibrating.
Nissan needs to put some kind of reinforcement in that curved area of
the hood. That would stop the hood dents.
