Anyone know what 17,17 or,18 wheels weigh?

Has anyone weighed any of the stock wheels,or wheel-tire combos.I am thinking about switching from my steel wheels, but if the stock cast alloy wheels are about the same weight,I would hunt aftermarket. The alloys should be lighter, but if they are mainly for looks, who knows.
Does anyone know of a website that gives aftermarket wheel weights-any wheels manu. mention the weights of their wheels. Thanks,Charlie

I've got an extra set of oem 17" off-road wheels. I'll try to weigh one before I get tires mounted on them...

18'' rims weigh 65 lbs. a piece. I know because I had to ship them out.

65lbs seems awfully high for an oem alloy wheel, even if they are 18" wheels...

You can get bling bling 22" wheels that don't weigh that much.

Did you weigh them yourself?

Thanks-wheel weight "free performance"-Hope 65 with tire.

Thanks guys.Getting lighter wheels and tires is one of the few ways I can think of to improve city mpg( correct tire pressure, and staying off the brakes are others).Of course,it won't improve it enough for me to measure it,but it will make me feel better anyway.Should make it accelerate faster, but doubt I could measure that either.
Light wheels are free, except you have to buy them, and if you go aftermarket, you might want to give some worry to them being more likely to fail than OEM stuff.
Wildcattitan,I sure hope that 65lbs is a wheel and tire combo??Thanks,Charlie

Yes 65 seems awfully high, I think an 18 inch rim should weigh in the 30lbs range.

I wish I had a bathroom scale... I just went out and picked up one the 17" off-road wheels (sans tire, valve stem, etc.) - Rough guesstimate I'd say it weighs around 20lbs, based on other wheels I have with known weights.

Free accurate scale-post office lobby

When I was weighing a lot of motorcycle parts,I would bring the heavier parts(wheels, tires etc) to the local Post office on a Sat,or Sunday. The counter was closed, but you could still use the scale in the lobby;they are fairly accurate for the heavier stuff, and free(I would put some newspaper down 1st so it didn't grease it up).The 265/16 16 tire wheel-(alloy) on my Tundra was 62 lbs.
I would love to weigh one of the steel wheels-maybe not enough to have the tire pulled,but...Thanks,Charlie

Okay, there's where we went off track.

WILDCATTITAN said that "18'' rims weigh 65 lbs. a piece. I know because I had to ship them out." He was either smoking crack or he meant that the wheel/tire combo (vs just the wheel) weighed 65 lbs.
