Slight "ticking" when accelerating

It seems whenever I accelerate, I here a slight ticking noise coming from the dash... really faint, but it is there... I have 4x4 and it ticks when you turn the 4x4 on, but this is in 4x2 normal acceleration... hmm... Any ideas?

Thank you,
Josh

Bro

this is covered like a million times. Just do a search and you will find your answers. By the way mine does it to.

Is the ticking coming from the dash or the engine compartment? I haven't noticed any "ticking" but would like to know exactly what you are talking about.

My ticking

Comes from the passenger side floor board area. Ticking noise only when acc. and only usualy after a minute or two of driving. After that its persisent, I was not able to duplicate to the dealer though. The one time it did not do it, they checked everything and said the engine is running normal. I get the brake dust also but from what I have read here it appears to be normal.

I have the same ticking coming from the exact same area. Passenger side floor board area. I was thinking of taking it in to the dealer also.

In the Frontiers it was either a loose heat shield or cracked exhaust manifold, always on the passenger side it seemed. Neither was deathly serious but it did probably hurt MPG and performance. Also sometimes it was a PCV purge valve, but that was not localized to the passenger side as far as noise orientation.
Don't know if thats what it is, but sounds familiar.

I have the same ticking noise. I brought it to the dealer and they said they checked all conections on the exhaust. My guess from the Cat. Conv. back, and they said all is tight. But I still have that damn ticking. It is light, but you can still hear it with the radio at a low-to-normal level (below 8). It is driving me nucking futs. I have also noticed when in Park, and you just rev the motor, I do not hear it. So this makes it all the more complicating. If it was in fact the exhaust, shouldn't you be able to hear it just by revving it up??

My dealer is telling me that it is a cracked exhaust manifold. I have had the part on order for 6 weeks now.

When crawling around under my truck for an oil change , i noticed the shift linkage cable resting on the heat shield. I have no noise but it's a thought.
