However, I may be creating a larger problem by asking you all to bombard them with phone calls, emails, etc., but I am really at the boiling point now. They can not duplicate the problem, but hey IT IS THERE! How many times am I going to have to bring it back? It rains every day from now until October in New Orleans. The truck only has 1400 miles on it. I feel they should just replace it now, save money on the rental at $30/day I am in, find the problem on their time and resell as a program vehicle. I am open to any suggestions and constructive criticism of my approach, so fire away.
Thanks again
1. Have you noticed the water problem when you washed the truck?
2. Have you taken the truck through a "laser car wash" system? Noticed any leaks then?
3. If it happens only when it rains, does it leak only if the truck is moving or also if it is parked only?
4. Does it leak if your A/C is turned off?
5. Have you taken a hose and directed it at different angles and seals?

I have read in this forum that Nissan (and I suppose it is the same with other manufacturers) will not do anything about the "odd" problem unless they can "duplicate it". As you said--they can't duplicate the problem.

It should be a simple (though time-consuming) process of experimentation of conditions and procedures for you to determine which of these combinations cause the leak. If you have a leak during a rain, you should be able to duplicate this leak through other methods. Experiment and trial and error.

Have them check the drain on your sunroof too (if you have one) because the draintube can get clogged or kinked resulting in water being routed into the footwell.

No sunroof BBqhog. They supposedly checked the A/C drain line. All I am asking of them is to replace the vehicle with the same options, nothing more. I told them they can keep the swimming pool, I don't want it. If they can find it in their hearts to add a lil' Thompson's waterseal to the truck I'd appreciate it. Really though, I love the truck and I am still not considering buying a Tundra or any other Crew Cab. I am just sick of getting the run around and having to spend 2-3 days a week at the Dealership. It does not appear to be legally a lemon, but in my opinion after giving them 25 days and 4 attempts to repair the leak, or at least "DUPLICATE" the leak, it is a lemon.

Problem Unresolved

OK Guys, Premier called me today and told me that I could pick up my truck. I thought I made it clear that I did not want it. They promptly informed me that they were not paying for the rental any longer and now it would be my financial responsibility. They stated that they changed the jute padding and carpet again, and "WHEN" not "IF" it leaks again, bring it back and they'll try to get an engineer in town. As stated before I have brought this in 4 times already and they still can not duplicate the problem. How many times before it is too many. Personally I thought after 3 times it was too many. But that is just me. Asking for advice: Should I get an attorney now or give them another chance. I am in favor of getting an attorney now....

Premier lost a sale b/c of my situation...got 'em

OK,
So a local restaurant owner that I frequent for lunch told me today he has decided that he will travel a few extra miles to purchase his armada rather than deal with Premier because of my experience with them. Doesn't exactly correct my water leak but any form of retribution is appreciated.

WATER IS BACK ...5th time

OK, so we had a hard rain and guess who has a wet floor board again. I will bring the truck back to the dealer again tomorrow for the 5th time. Nissan does not believe there is a problem since they can't duplicate it, but putting me in a rental at $30/day for 25 days and counting is worth it, not to mention the padding and carpet they replace every time. Needless to say I am pissed.

They should leave carpet out-bare metal-trace leak.

Boy,this s_ _ _ big time.If I were hunting for a leak,I would leave the carpet out to make it easier to find water tracks.Carpet, and undercarpet spread the water around,so you can't tell where it originated.Strip that area to bare metal, dry it,and wait for rain(that should be a short wait, since it rains every freakin' day around here).I would be tempted to sit in that sucker(with a bright flashlight) during one of our cloud bursts,so I could actually see where the water is coming from.If you(or their tech) were up to it,I would leave the AC off so it doesn't confuse the issue.Do the test-no carpet,or undercarpet, just bare,DRY, metal- on the AC on a dry day-run the AC for a couple of hours with the windows open-let the humid air in so there is a lot of condensate to back up,if that is the problem.
I would hold off on the lawyer-it takes forever to get anything done once a lawyer is involved.
Have them strip it to bare metal.Luck,Charlie PS Saw a Smoke SE KC yesterday-you're a CC-right??

Dude, you still haven't said a definate yes or no to using your AC... If you haven't used it ever during that time, then I'd say it's safe to rule that out.

Otherwise, next time it rains, sit in the truck and look for a trickle.

first off why are they replacing carpet over, and over but not working toward the problem. Thats like shoveling **** against the tide. Ask them to replace all weatherstripping. Then check it out. When they fix the carpet this time. tell them to keep it on there lot until it rains. Let them check it out. That will duplicate the problem. They probably think your spraying it with a hose or something. I would let them see it happen. Then maybe they will believe you. It sounds to me they dont believe you.

Fixed?

We think the problem is fixed. I got the truck back today. They replaced the door sash, which was too short and allowed water into the door panel. Also replaced plastic in door panel and rear passenger door speaker. Rear Pass. door is where water was coming in. As I was driving home I noticed the air bag light blinking and when I got home I noticed that the wires under front pass. seat were not connected. Back to the shop tomorrow. Of course I can't just pick up the truck and have everything go smoothly. I even made a comment to the service manager that I would "see her tomorrow" as I was leaving, jokingly. Obviously, not so funny to me now. She had also mentioned that she would throw some free oil changes my way, but failed to mention them as I was leaving. Should I bring that up to her tomorrow or do you all consider that too pushy? After all, this will be my 8th trip back to the dealer tomorrow. Only 1700 miles on truck. Let me know what you all think. And by the way, a coworker is having the same exact problem with his Titan as of yesterday.

I was wondering if you might also have a leak coming from the door handles? There was a member that had a body shop find that the water was comming from there and draining out onto the carpet on the rear pass seat floor and ran up to the front pass seat floor,
just thought I would let you know. Hope that they fix all of your concerns!

The door handle guy was me. That was the first diagnosis when they saw the water coming out of the door panel in the rear. However, they noticed it was the door sash where the water was actually entering the vehicle. Checked this morning and did not have any water and we had a good rain yesterday. I also had to go back to Nissan so they could connect my seats so that the air bag light would stop blinking.

Thumbs up Re: PREMIER NISSAN OF METAIRIE, LA SOLD me a LEMON

I have not posted on titantalk for almost 3 years now, fortunately b/c I didn't have anything wrong with my truck. I started this forum out of frustration, however, I was correct. Back in June '04 my water problem seemed resolved and it has been until January 23rd of this year. I brought the vehicle back to PREMIER NISSAN OF METAIRIE, and they found the problem (bad seal on windshield). This was there 5th attempt. I will be the first one to admit that if I wasn't happy with service I would be screaming from the rooftops. However, due to Katrina a completely new staff is in the service department at Premier, and I could not be more happy with their service. Anyway, Lemon Law states that dealership only gets 4 attempts. I knew they exhausted all of their options as I was bringing it to them. I figured I would see how I would be treated and to my surprise, they informed me that they were over the limit on attempts, but would fix it anyway. Also, held my hand through the entire arbitration process. I filed a complaint on a Thursday in Feb. and the following Monday a rep from Nissan called and informed me that they were repurchasing the vehicle for sales price + interest + per diem - 1/2 mileage at IRS rate. KUDOS to Nissan and Premier Nissan.

Re: PREMIER NISSAN OF METAIRIE, LA SOLD me a LEMON

A little advice now too late. I would have taken it to another dealer long before you reached critical mass with Premier. Unless Nissan USA or the Regional Nissan Rep contacted you, the GM was tossing you a line of BS about "how he wanted to get you another truck but Nissan was saying no".
