My truck has the rear AV controls and I think it has an infrared transmitter for rear headphones. Does anybody know where you can get the headphones and how it all works??

If you're unsure about the IR transmitter, Radio Shack has a $5 Infrared Remote tester -- it's a dopey looking card that is supposed to glow when exposed to IR. Putting that next to the possible transmitter might confirm or deny the idea.
Any of the NightShot Sony camcorders (or similar 0-Lux IR deals) will show IR as well. Put the camera into nightshot mode, aim at the potential source of IR and it should look like a flashlight. Neat stuff.
I don't have that model Titan, so I have no way of checking myself.
You might want to try some of the IR cans sold at Best Buy or Circuit City. You'd need one with the same carrier frequency though, so it would be a crapshoot.
I think they are about $55 from the dealer. I was going to get a pair last time I was in for repairs but they didn't have any batteries so that we could verify they worked. I had been told by someone who had put in a dvd with wireless system that they thought there was a transmitter as it interfered with his new system until they cut the wires to the control.

I just tried the sony cam thing and it lit up like a light bulb.
Subtitan can you give any specifics about your sony headphones, model etc.
first of all, i believe the IR is for the remote and not the headphones. if it was then why the headphone jack.
secondly, i think IR not ideal for headphones as much as RF would be. most wireless headphones are RF not IR. this further substantiates the fact that the IR transmitter is for the remote and not the headphones.

I have an Armada with the rear AV and the IR is for the headphones. I am able to listen to the radio on the car speakers and the kids can chose to hear the same or listen to CDs in the 6 six CD changer at the same time I am hearing the news on the radio. These are the same IR headphones I am using for the 9inch DVD system I had installed.

That's what I thouoght originally but then I found page 4-37 in the owners manual that shows the rear AV controls and it says the IR is for headphones...

Spartan, how did you mount your 9"? I put in a 7" headrest monitor where the factory would of been but would like to go bigger...however as much bouncing the 7" does a 9" will probably pull the headliner down.
IR is line of site and would not work well for the application at hand. I also read that in the manual, but a look at the headphones will reveal no IR transceivers. IR is a poor communications means for something like audio - it's best suited for brief bursty communications.
