ride height w/ and w/o or package

Hey does anyone know if the rancho shocks offered in the off road package increase the ride height at all? reason i am asking is because i have seen two lifted titans with the cst kit, one with the OR and one without. they both had the same tire/rim setup however the one without the OR had some serious rubbing going on on the backside of the fender near the driver and passenger doors, while the one with the OR had the same rubbing it was much less. Just curious....it could have been driving habits but i have a feeling the Rancho coilovers on the OR package give you a little bit more clearance. can anybody confirm this or prove me wrong?
thanks

Vansd1, I don't think that there is any difference in ride height. My guess would be that the Rancho Shocks on the Off Road model don't provide any more ride height, but just dampen the bumps better, keeping the tire from rubbing as much.

Shocks should not affect the height of the truck more than a fraction of an inch usually (if they are pressurized). It really depends on the springs. The shocks just dampen the movement of the wheels.

According to Nissan Mktg materials, the OR package reduces the ride height by almost an inch. I'm guessing due to the weight of the extra skid plates.

if your not aware we have coilovers on our truck. the shock and the spring are one unit so although shocks do not affect the ride height the spring does and both of these are differant with the OR package.

also i see noooo way as to how the OR package is lower by an inch due to "the extra weight of the skid plates" at a max they weigh 100lbs and if i stand on my front bumper my truck doesnt squat at all. besides who in there right mind would want a "lowered" OR package?

Well if you look at the small print in the big Titan mktg materials it does list the off road
package as having less ground clearance than non off road units.

Why? who knows.

Ground clearance and ride height are not the same. The skid plates probably reduce the ground clearance simply by being there.

Info from the Sales Brochure.

Numbers shown are for a King Cab. CC are slightly different.

Min grd clearance at rear axle 4x4 ............10.3"

Min grd clearance 4x4 w/o OR.................. 11.3"

Min grd clearance 4x4 w/OR Package.........11.1" < may be that 1/4 inch skid plate

Overall Height...............................2wd =75.0" (76.6" on 4x4)

Reach your own conclusions...
