Update.i just filed my complaint.one down so please join the fight.please every one please call nhtsa at 1-888-327-4236 and file a conmplaint on the exhaust manifold leaks and cracks. Need 100 people to complain to get nissan in court for a recall.please help.
nhtsa told me that they need about 100 complaints to start opening a case with nissan since it is a emission issue! the more complaints the get the quicker we can get a recall form nissan for defective parts
I put a complaint in on the website recently about the tail pipe and the manifolds. There might be over 100 complaints already in the system if you add up 2004-2006 but if you need 100 per year it might be harder to get.
You do realize that the most likely scenario is a warranty extension, right? Although, eventually Nissan will release re manufactured versions of the current manifolds. Otherwise, this late in the Titans production, it is highly unlikely they will find a supplier to re-design a completely new manifold...
Lets give the guy some support, He is trying to get results. Hell, we have all been trying to get results on the axle seals & vent valve issues. I got my fight resolved.. MiguelTitan04 Keep the fight going man!
I hope that everyone with the issue reports it. There are several links on this websites with ways to report Manifold and axle issues. Search and you shall see. I hope Nissan owns up to their defective manifolds.
Just found out today that I too have two cracked manifolds and they want $1200/ side to replace. I just submitted my complaint and will be looking to do this myself or have an independent take a look at it.
Just turned 70k. The dealer is still trying to see if they can cover it but they informed me that on my truck the cats are not welded to the manifold??? I thought this was the same on all trucks?
what years does this affect? does the 2008.5 model years have the same issue? I know it's basically the same motor... but need to know before i rush to the dealer and freak the hell out!!!
GREAT NEWS! My dealer just called and verified it is in fact covered under warranty. After initially telling me on their diagram it's two separate parts and therefor not covered, I forwarded them a copy of the letter (printed off from a post here) and then the link to the Nissan assist website and that did it. I'd HIGHLY suggest anyone that is under 80k take theirs in for inspection. This just saved me about $3k.
Congrats! I'm surprised the dealer had to call and make sure since all they have to do is VIN check and shows up on the screen. But yea. When the service told me if I didn't make it in before 80k and said I'd have to buy new ones, I told him "f-that. I'll buy aftermarket and save." lol
Sometimes I really think the corporation doesn't give a 2 cent f*** about what's wrong with our vehicles. I waited 2 weeks for their response into my axle seals being bad and differential gasket being bad as well and the answer I received was, " Since you don't have the factory warranty anymore, we can't do anything about it." I just hung up when he was still talking and I chewed him and another rep out because I said I've been building muscle cars for a long time, I've NEVER seen seals and gasket like this go out that fast. Shoot. I just got done replacing my 45+ year gasket on my differential on my Mustang and it was still good. But I submitted my complaint on my headers a month ago.
So, when will I know that I have a cracked "manifold"? what are some symptoms that I should look out for, and after reading the letter, does this apply to the 2008.5 and up Titans?
UPDATE: Just picked the truck up last night after the dealer covered it and it's 100% better. It is so much quieter and seems to run much smoother. We got this used last year and come to think of it, this has been this way since we got it. It took some time to get used to the sound but then after really listening to it something didn't sound right. Again, I highly recommend that anyone under 80K on the clock take it to the dealer to have them check it out. I'd also give them the web address I posted earlier and take a print out of that letter with you. If they tell you no, fight for it. I simply pressed them and they covered it no questions asked. I think they all feed you the typical dealer line of "it's not covered" but once you show them the supporting info they can't say no. Easy way to save about $3,500. Good luck my fellow Titanians!
