Purchased my Titan last week after the usual contemplation - what color?, Off-Road or not?, Big Tow or not? Finally decided on the Crew Cab, silver, Off-Road w/ E-Lock, Big Tow, and Side Airbag Package.
In the process, I drove 4 other Titans for a considerable amount of time. They all performed identically - the acceleration was the same in all of them. You know, barely touch the accelerator and off you go. No hesitation at all. To me, this is the Titan's strong point.
Long story short, my Titan's acceleration is noticably different from the others I drove. It actually hesitates before you feel the strong acceleration kick in. Also, the shift point from 1st to 2nd seems too quick. I know, I know, I should have driven this truck before I chose it, but all the others I drove were identical in acceleration. Therefore, I couldn't imagine it would be any different in mine.
Anyone else experience this same issue? I'm not smart enough to know what the problem could be - does anyone have any idea? Could the problem subside after driving it for awhile? The truck only has 100 miles on it, but the others I drove all had less than that.
Thanks, in advance, for any and all input....

ECU Learning curve?Throttle by wire.K&N relearn?VDC
I have noticed that my XE KC 2.94 4x2 seems to hit harder at some times than others.I wonder if the ECU has some sort of learning curve-seems odd that it would take a computer so long to learn what "map' to use,but the Honda Pilots have something like this? They get poor mpg after the battery is DC,and it takes a tank or so to regain previous mpg-strange.Maybe they won't "hit" hard until they are warmed up??
I would be tempted to remove the K&N and see what happens.
I'm guessing here, but mine is sorta like yours in this respect, sometimes it really goes, sometimes,it seems to"think about it" before really going,so my guess is nothing is wrong,it is just a peculiarity of the Throttle by wire setup. It won't let you hammer it .
The VDC with the Big Tow might also prevent a really strong hit(so you don't lose traction).Try it with VDC off,and fully warmed up.The salesmen probably knew to turn the VDC off to really show the performance.Luck,Charlie
It might be your ECU needs to be reset. The 'test drives' on your truck may have set the learning curve on the 'slow' side for the throttle by wire responsiveness. Also, keep in mind your break in period. You don't want to be out there lighting them up for a while until the truck has broken in. But, to get the truck to learn how 'you' drive...disconnect the battery overnight and see if that helps.

Thanks, Charlie, for your thoughts and ideas. I'll try removing the K&N first.
Also, since my truck has E-Lock, it does not have VDC. VDC is not available with E-Lock. But I understand trucks with VDC may not accelerate as quickly with the VDC turned on.
Thanks again....

Great advice...I'll disconnect the battery tonight and see if that helps. BTW, I know about the 1200 mile break-in period but, as you know, its difficult not to step on it occasionally (OK, frequently!).

I have the exact same thing here. Since I bought it. I have the XE so I have none of the electrical driveline goodies. It is very jumpy at the start (sensitive throttle) but then seems to flatten out or even hesitate till about 3,600 rpm then accelerates to all hell from there. Shift form 1-2 is also very quick and I even have larger tires which I thought may have slowed that down after they were installed.
I would bring the truck to the dealer and have them check the throttal programming. They will quickly see what your settings are. It is feasible that the timing parameters are off.
