Question which truck should I buy?

I have been on and off of this board several times since joining it .I am trying to gather info on the pros and cons of the TITAN. I have driven the TITAN and loved every second of it.It just made me want more time with it. I walked away satisfied in my mind that my new truck will be a TITAN.

You must forgive me people because now doubt has reared it ugly head. I have test driven a (dare I say it) FORD F150 XLT Lariat CC,with leather,CD changer, heavy tow package. and then some.It is a very nice truck ,but, is it worth the money. I was quoted $31190.00 with a cash deal I have .

Toyota,God bless me, gave me their quote for a Tundra SE5 model with alloys, exhaust and some very large factory rebates. It was a nice 'little" truck and was well put together but not much in the way of power.

The only one I feel my be a legitimate contender in the class of truck will be the Siverado with the Z 71 package. I will drive a heavy Chevy before making my final decision. Any suggesstions will be appreciated

All good choices...from my point of view. I suggest you get the one that best fits YOUR needs. But, do yourself a favor before you decide. Drive the Titan again after you have tried all of the others. Just for the FUN of it.

If he drives the titan again he will probably take it home.
Titans are very well priced so you probably will get more for your money with a titan.

Is there really any doubt? Why must you deny your love? Have you tried counseling for commitment issues?

If you are foolish enough to buy anything else, Archie Bell and the Drells will go after you for shaming your name.

Drive the TITAN again as IMADOGMAN suggested. Then come back and tell us about your new truck.

I did it, I love it, I would do it all again. Its nice to be different. I wish I had the money to buy 2 more; 1 to lift, and another to slam and keep my baby stock for reliability.

Forget Ford if towing

All nice trucks, but check the posting"6000-8000 lb tow experience" before you buy the Ford with the 300 hp motor.A poster has that very truck, and it is way underpowered for towing in the relative flatlands of TX. Do a search to look for it,or just backtrack about 3-4 days-forget the Ford.
The Tundra is very nice-had one-but not up to heavy towing.
The Chevy is a good truck. The Nissan has more power, and better handling, but the Chevy will do the job-just not much fun to drive relative to the Titan.Luck,Charlie

Model Changes

I have been looking at the different brands as well....GM (Chevy) will be upgrading their engine for 2005. It will be an aluminum block 5.3 with 310 HP. (torque looks about the same). They have also improved the brakes and perhaps the transmission. I guess these are mid model changes before they come out with a new truck in 2007.

I have not yet heard of 2005 changes for Ford, Toyota, or Nissan.

I came to Nissan because GMC wouldn't fix mine, Toyota hasn't figured out what full size means or I would have had a Tundra in 2002 instead of the smoking Sierra. Ford had to much body roll in curves and also the wind noise at 35 mph was greater than the Titan at 80 mph and for all the praise of the new Ford interior ... blah. Finally I haven't looked at a Dodge since my pre-lemon law 1978 Dodge van. Once burned I tend to stay burned.

Nissan seems to be standing behind the Titan and the customer and that means a lot.

Assume that all trucks are the same, we know it is not, but lets assume.. at the end you will sell the truck, and resale value will mandate how much you will get for your truck.. consider that there will be a lot of Ford trucks and GMCs, and Toyotas, etc. but not many Titans... which means better resale value for the Titan.
Anyway, buy a Titan and You will get the best all around truck... and don't forget the Crash test... Titan best in class....
Good luck.

i was in the same position as you. which to buy? all you have to do is look at what you get for your money. because when it comes down to it, thats what really matters: a good investment for your hard-earned cash.

1. the TITAN is reliable
2. almost all nissans have decent to good resale if not better
3. power/torque
4. features/ammenities
5. fun to drive
6. owner satisfaction

thats just for starters. the list goes on and on. and every driver will have their add-ons for this list.

make sure you compare apples to apples and really look at what you get for your money, you'll be surprised at how much you really do get w/ the TITAN.

Here's my .02:

The first model year of the Titan has been a mixed bag. Some have no problems, others have a bunch of little crap. No matter what, "problems" for the Titan seem to be little-ish stuff.

I think there's no denying the driving experience in a Titan. It'll tow anything (if that's your bag), and the utilitrack system is awesome. I use it for WORK 5 days a week. It's up to the job.

I think there's also no denying that a Chevy is also a pretty nice truck. The down side is that if you get one of the "bad" ones, you REALLY get a bad one. If they work, they drive VERY smoothly (my opinion), and have killer seats. They're easy to load, easy to drive, easy to do everything with, except figure out what the 1223432 buttons on the dashboard do.

The downside to the Chevy (other than reliability) is boredom. They're JUST really nice. Simon Cowell (the American Idol Smartass) would call the Chevy a "safe performance, technically good, but not good enough to win this competition".

The Ford is a nice truck, too. It's not underpowered as much as it's over-heavy. 5900 pounds. What a fat bastard. I would also guess that the tranny sucks lots of power (Ford is known for parasitic HP loss in their trannies). I like how the Ford drives, but I don't love it.

I don't know if the Dodge has gotten over their Tranny woes. They were certainly garbage on the last generation of Ram trucks. Ask ANY mechanic. The Dodge actually drives pretty nicely, and the Hemi pulls hard. The biggest downside to me is that the damn thing would stick out of my garage about a foot, unlike the Titan, Ford and Chevy, which fit nicely.

Not to sound like a broken record but, stay away from first year stuff. I like all your choices, but after my wifes first year 02 Altima I'd wait. I'd love to have a Titan, just can't afford one.

The Lariat has more luxury features than the Titan, and is a very nice truck. I prefer the Nissan due to its fun-to-drive factor, which is my top priority. It all depends on what you want most.

another 2cent, I work for toyota we do have chevy aswell, went and looked at a few chevy trucks, walked around the lot for 2 hours, my thought was wow thats my fathers truck.... the Tundra, great truck, but the tow capacity was a little loe, for my $ drove the titan and 4 days later bought it, and let me tell ya love the truck, you can call it first year, all ya want, but there are less problems in the nissan first year, than all the other manufactures, with trucks being built for years. Sorry Xterra you cant afford one. so then you dont really know a 10 dollar altima, is not even close to a 25 dollar titan and ford well it speaks for is self Ray

As far as first year models are concerned both the F-150 and Titan are new so it's a wash. When the 2005's come out all the bugs will not magically vanish due to a model year change. It can take years before corrective measures are implemented. My wife's 2001 Sequoia just had TSB's issued for poor A/C performance and the sulfur smell with rear window down. Those TSB's applied to 2001 to 2004 models. So don't assume the 2005 will be bugless no new cars are.
