Question Oil Pressure Sending Unit Replacement?

I saw a thread on here last week about changing out the oil pressure sending unit. Does anyone know if this is something that can be done DIY or does it have to be done in a shop? I am about to change my oil and wanted to knock this out as well. Is there a diagram on how to do it? Thanks!

Re: Oil Pressure Sending Unit Replacement?

My oil pressure sending unit went out about a year ago. My gauge has been pegged out ever since.

Re: Oil Pressure Sending Unit Replacement?

Can you get the switch at an auto parts store or do you have to get it from the dealership?

Re: Oil Pressure Sending Unit Replacement?

Well, I ordered a new Oil Pressure Switch yesterday from Autozone and got it in today. I got up under the truck today to change it out as well as change my oil. The switch was a little bit of a pain to get to, but once I figured it out it wasn't bad at all. I went ahead and bought a 24MM deep socket when I picked up my switch and this helped me save a lot of time and heartache. After I got everything changed and installed I cranked her up and walaaaa! My oil pressure gauge works again!! Whooo hoooooo! LOL! In the past two months I've learned how to change out oxygen sensors, change break pads and rotors and now I learned how to change out the oil pressure switch. It's amazing how much you can learn and actually do yourself if you take the initiative to tackle it. I've saved myself over $500 in the past two months by doing the work myself Thanks so much to all of you who gave me pointers and advice through all of this

I am once again impressed with the technical info supplied by the patrons of this site. One more item stored in my memory bank, just in case.
