Made the plunge! KC XE 2WD for $18.5K

Last week I purchased a brand new KC Titan XE 2WD for $18.5K brand new (after the $1000 rebate). The only option I have is floor mats. Invoice on this truck is $21K, so I'm pretty happy with this deal. I wanted a big engine, the bigger bed, and a usable back seat, so this model fit the bill for me. I would have purchased the Tow Package if it was available by itself. FYI, I bought it at Baker Jackson Nissan in Houston, in case anyone is looking for a similarly optioned Titan.

Here's my shopping story: I definitely wanted a pickup truck, and I didn't want to spend much. I was originally looking at V6 extended cab Tacomas because they had just enough towing capacity (I need to tow around 4000 lbs), and, according to Edmunds.com, I could buy one with the options I wanted for around $18K. Well, needless to say that was theoretical b/c I couldn't find a Tacoma with the only the options I wanted, and the best price I could get was around $19K.

I stopped by a Nissan dealer after my last visit to a Toyota dealer and test drove the Titan I ultimately bought. The engine and usable back seat sold me, especially the engine. The salesman told me the truck was $21K, so I passed on the deal and went home. He called me later that night and said he was mistaken (or so he claimed) - the truck is actually $18.5K. I stopped by the next morning on the way to work, thinking surely he was mistaken. Nope, that was price and I closed the deal.

I've only had my Titan one weekend and already taken it to the beach and fishing. This is the first pickup I've had since my dad gave me his old '76 F150, which was my first vehicle when I turned 16.

I'm glad I stumbled onto this web site - lots of great info here.

Congrats

Congrats on your new truck. Could you even get a competitor's truck for 18.5K with a v8 and automatic? Curious...

Congrats man. Did you get it at Baker Jackson North or South? I got mine at the south location @ 610 and Buffalo Speedway.
