If this is true I wonder how nissan will counter....I remember them saying they could easily add VVT for anoth 30-40hp. Remember the Titan is way underrated in the first place.
They guy said like 10 words, and had no back-up for what he said. I'm not familiar w/those boards, so I don't know if he's built a reputation over there. But that's a 140 hp increase over what they do now, and 380 is a good amount of hp to get out of a 5.4L engine, considering Dodge exaggerates the hp from their 5.7L, Ford exaggerates the hp from their 5.4L engine, and Nissan gets only 305 out of 5.6L. I wouldn't say that "the cat it outta the bag" until I see some valid reference for those numbers.
From reading a little bit on that website and from tundrasolutions, I haven't seen 1 single other person talkin about a 5.4L V8. I have read people talkin about their current 4.7L V8 engine, using VVT AND a TRD supercarger to gain upwards of 350-400 hp, but that was just a few people and I think it was just wishful thinking and loose calculations.

I read in some obscure offroard magazine that I have since thrown away (I think the one put out by 4WD Parts, called "Offroad Adventures") a review of one with an available TRD supercharger option that did over 300 HP. It was a $4000 option though.

Yeah, just checked out the TRD website, and they charge $4,699.99 for a supercharger for the 4.7L V8 in the Tundra. It might be less if they tie it in a whole package from the dealer, but still damn expensive for what you get. Either way, can't compete w/the Titan now, or anything that's available so far.
Like lizardking said, it's the 31st post of 32 posts, on the 2nd page.
Ok, might as well post it then.
The rumored 5.4L for 05 with so and so hp and tq is unconfirmed and was also rumored to have 360+hp and 400+tq. A diesel and hybrid motor was also one of the rumors. But that just it, rumors.
What is a definate is the 4.7L will be getting VVTi added on 05 models to bump the hp to 282 and tq to 328. 05 models will drop the 4spd auto and get a 5spd auto. The 3.4L will be replaced by the 4.0L that is currently used in the 4runner. 4.0L models will also get a 5spd auto.

TrojanD, IMHO, the Hemi is rated correctly and the Titan is grossly UNDERrated @ 305 hp, should be closer to 350 hp; I can't speak to the Ford.
I base this on dyno pulls @ MTI, in Houston, which is one the premier tuners in the nation. The owner and I go way back and, to my surprise, even his jaw hit the ground when The Mighty Titan dyno'd (see my sig) with only the K&N AirCharger mod and a Flowmaster. He dynos everything imaginable, including Hemi's, and told me he was real impressed, not only with the dyno no.'s, but with how quickly the engine accelerated - which is very evident to the ear. Also, my Titan has a 2.93 gear and the Hemi has a 3.92; therefore, the Hemi should spin up faster and it doesn't. Jayson, the owner of MTI, popped the hood and just stared at the engine, for quite some time, in awe - I kid you not! This coming from a guy who is building naturally aspirated engines making 530 rwhp/ 515 rwtq engines and putting them in Corvettes, Z-28's, Hummers, etc on a daily basis.
Ask anyone, when Jayson's impressed, it means something.
