Where are my heated seats????

I can't believe it....I've had my Titan LE for over a week now, and I just noticed the truck does not have heated seats. No switches, nothing. I checked the window sticker and, sure enough, heated seats are standard equipment for the LE.

I took the truck to the dealer today for other issues (poor acceleration, hissing AC, etc.), and the tech immediately looked under the seats for the proper wiring and took apart the console to see if the wiring for the heated seats was underneath. Guess what?....he told me he couldn't see any of the wiring for heated seats! But he wanted to get a better look to be certain.

The service manager agreed with me that this is a QC issue. He even agreed I should call Nissan USA with this complaint. The salesman commented, " Your truck must have been built on a Monday or a Friday. We've even seen trucks that were supposed to have the tow package that weren't built with a tow hitch."

Now what? I hesitate to have the heated seats installed after-the-fact. On the other hand, this winter the cold leather on my tushy will piss me off.

Please share any wisdom you might have....

I would make them install the heated seats. Better get them ordered now and you might have the parts before winter.

Are these the front or rear seats? Only the front are heated on the LE (according to Nissan web page that is).

At first I wasn't going to mention this but I have an LE as well and I was under the impression that a steering wheel might be standard equipment. I have been driving around with a pair of "vise grip pliers". You have given me an incentive to go the the dealership and demand my wheel. Just kidding man. That would really stink. I do agree with bestatchess however. Your only other options are no heated seats at all or a new truck. Obviously the latter is out of the question, so the only obvious answer is to have them get the parts and install them. You have already expressed the issue of cold buns. Sounds like a no brainer. I do have a question though. What is in the place of the knockouts where the heated seat switches go? They are to the left and right of the console shifter.

There is nothing where the switches should be...no knockouts...nothing but the console.

I'll follow-up after I pick up my truck from the dealer this evening.

Do you think that your truck was a born an SE and then the dealer 'built' it into an LE by putting in leather and the foglights and changed the badging?

I know that Toyota Dealers around here used to get a cheaper model of 4Runner, get a local shop to put in leather for a cheap price and then charge an expensive price for a "Limited" model.....when it really wasn't born a Limited version from the Factory.

I can not imagine how this was overlooked at the " Pre-Flight " briefing when you picked it up from the " Stealer ". Did the salesman not go over everything with you when you checked the truck out ?? I would give the salesman the " Hairy Eyeball " the next time you see him/her for not catching the mistake. Have them order the parts and install and give you a loaner Titan for the wait !!!!!

Demand Excellence !!

That sucks that there are no knockouts because the switch is a "rocker" type with no bezel. It simply sticks through a hole in the console cover. I sure as hell hope that they don't try and cut these holes out. It sounds like a custom one must be ordered from the factory. However, does the SE have a console mounted gear shift option? If not, then every cover should have these holes in it. Now I am really confused. Someone help me out here.

SE is standard with captain's chairs (floor mounted shift). Option is bench seats with column mounted gear shift. Other options are Popular package with captain's chairs or Popular with bench, RF with captain's or bench seats.

Sounds as if the factory built a SE and put leather seats in my mistake then put on LE badging. I say this because the tech said the wiring harness for heated seats is not there.

If I were in this situation, a new truck would be in order. An LE was specified and bought, however the vehicle delivered was not an LE. If a new truck properly provisioned was not forth coming then I would let my lawyer do the talking.

Hey Phly, I would be seriously PO'd if this happened to me as well. I feel for ya. If there is no knockout where the rocker is supposed to go I'd definitely get the dealer to order a new panel and replace the whole darned thing. One thing I'd wonder about is if they have to run a new wire harness is there anything they can screw up in the process? Hopefully not. Otherwise, I'd have to agree with what eakes said and demand a new truck.

BTW, which dealer did you get yours from? I too am in the Denver area (Centennial airport) and would like to know who to watch out for when it comes time for me to get my Titan.

OK, here's my follow-up:

Picked up the truck from the dealer tonight. They were as incredulous as I was over the lack of heated seats. They said they ordered the parts and will add when the parts arrive. No explanation why this may have happened.

I made sure they won't try to cut holes in the console for the switches, and the service manager agreed a new console cover is in order. Now its just wait and see.

BTW, for those of you wondering which dealership I purchased from, it was Peak Nissan on S. Wadsworth. I have to say though, I was treated very well there, and I would actually recommend them. Everyone, from sales to finance to service and parts, has been extremely professional and helpful. Ultimately, I hold Nissan North America responsible for this. Their QC must have been drinking the day my truck rolled off the assembly line.

As suggested, I will insist on a Titan loaner while the heated seats are being installed. That's the least they can do for this extreme inconvenience.

Thanks for all of your replies....

Bmaez,

Yes, the service manager said there is a TSB out for the AC, but it hasn't solved the problem. He said Nissan will have another fix out soon and I should wait for it.

Patience....

Yeah, that or they give you a nice check for the price difference of the missing heated seats! Man that sucks! Sorry to hear about the problem.
