CB Installation

Hello all!

Has anyone installed a CB in their Titan yet? If so where did you mount it? How did you run the power wires and antenna wire? I previously had a CB mounted in my Isuzu Rodeo and used the kind of antenna with a magnet in it. I'd like to have a permanent antenna mount this time.

Thanks for your input.

Search Cobra, Midland, Uniden. There is an antenna that splices into the factory FM but not as good I'm sure as the big rigs use. There are underseat models where the Mic head has all the controls. And, there are handhelds with integrated and/or external antennas.

Good page to start

I made small l-shaped bracket and bolted it to the pass. side floor bolt for the middle seat position. Now I just set my cobra 25 on the hump and screw the knob through the bracket and into the side of the radio. I plug it into the aux power socket on the dash and run the antenna on the floor behind the rear seat and out the door to a mag base roof mount antenna. I don't see a handy way to mount it permanently and don't need it except on road trips so that way it is generally out of the way but close enough to see and use.

A couple of pics to help along the way...

This is how I have mounted my scanner - my handheld CB is kept in the frontmost roof compartment. I molded a piece of sheetmetal that tucks and locks under the shifting console and is velcro'd (just love the stuff!). The concept is the same for a CB - you didn't mention the style so obviously this mount wouldn't work for the dash mount type. Midland just came out with a reletively inexpensive CB/SSB combo dash mount unit that me thinks I will pick up. My plans are to mount this in the center console (I have KC Captain's seats) and move my CD's to the back. See (http://www.skywavzelectronics.com/midland79290.htm) for the details of the CB/SSB
