This is the first truck I've ever owned that has a subwoofer, so I'm looking for a litle edumacation. The sub seems to work fine when I crank the hell out of the music, but doesn't seem to fire when the volume is in the "normal" range. Is this the way subs work, or should there be better response at the lower volumes? It's not a big deal, I'm just more curious than anything. Maybe there's some adjustment that I'm not aware of.

The only adjustment you have with the factory sub is to up the bass on the audio control. No real other options other than going with an aftermarket box/sub/amp that will give you more control. It's probably working "normal", just not to your standard.
If your Titan has a Rockford Fosgate, on the controls where you can adjust the bass, trebel, etc., you'll see an option called 'SSV'. It'll probably be set to 'low'. You'll want to adjust that to 'mid' or 'high' to hear (or feel) the subwoofer more often.

Speed Sensitive Volume shouldn't have anything to do with the adjustment to the sub, it just adjusts the volume overall according to the vehicle speed. Setting it to high will only make the volume drop off when you are driving slow then high when at higher speeds. I suggest you leave it off unless you like having your volume go up and down as you drive.
Anyone who doesnt have a sub and the 6 speaker package try hooking up one? Now a days....the factor mids/highs put out a good sound. Of course it doesn't generate alot of bass. In one of my celica's I installed 6" subs in the doors and had a Mid/tweater combo with the mids in the back and the tweaters up front. It sounded really good. I dont want to have a ground shaking system, I'd just like to add a little more boom to it. How do you guys think just putting some 8's or 10s under the back seat would sound? Anyone know how powerful the 6 disc changer is?
I don't know how that is possible considering all SSV does is adjust the volume according to speed. You can do the same by just turning the volume up or down.
