Question Oil

What type of oil is best used in the Titan? My dealer said they use Valvoline.
Good oil but I may use something different if there are better deals.
Let me know.

Non of the above

Chevron supreme for now, although the best for the titan is any PAO synthetic such as Mobil 1, amsoil, or redline. Notice castrol syntec was not included, its a group III oil not a pao so don't waste your money.

I am a Mobil 1 guy all the way,and oil is only as good as your filter and I use
a K&N oil filter. I believe I can tell a difference in performance, the truck seems to run smoother.

My dealer is using Mobil 1.

I wouldn't use valvoline on my lawnmower. Had to tear down engine with 40k knocking. Had inch of sludge in oil pan clogging oil pump.Oil had been changed every 3k. Also lived in Ashland and had to breath their pollution for years.

Check the size of that filter. Smaller than a 12 oz Coke can. Does that make it coke can mod?

My Nissan Dealer gives free life-time oil changes with purchase of a Nissan! I think they use Quaker State. All I know is it's Free! I love free.

Whatever you use make sure you check the fine print in your warranty booklet. Some warranty in fine print will not cover your synthetics if you change them over the suggested oil change interval 3,000/6,000 what ever it may be. There is nothing in the world worse then having your truck sit at a dealer with something wrong while they try to figure out if its under warranty or not. It happens everyday. I myself prefer synthetic oil, but i work my truck real hard so i chose to go the mopar oil route. I know it sucks, but i am dotting my I's and Crossing my T's until my warranty is out.

I use Texaco Havoline cause it's $5 a case cheaper than Castrol down
at the Walmart. This saved me enough where I could splurge and get a
Purolator Pure One filter.

I've used pennzoil in my vehicles for years with great results. Don't see any need to change now. So I will be using PENNZOIL 5W30.

I am going to try Mobil 1 5W-30 this weekend, also Mobil 75-90 synthetic in both diffs. I have always used conventional previously, with good results, but the synthetic tests results are pretty impressive.

The problem with synthetic in the titan is that to get any benefit you must ignore the suggested OCI. Of course this could lead to warrenty issues later on, although I to this point I have not heard of one person having any mech. engine issue's with the VK56. Most used oil anaylsis show that with mobil 1 the majority of wear occurs in the the first couple thousand of the run, and as milage climbs wear drops. The shortest I would even consider leaving it in my motor is 7500miles, the family civic goes 10-12k oci, and my supra goes about 2k(annual milage) but I will be swithcing from mobil 1 15w-50 to chevron delo 400 15w-40, similer protection in this application and way cheaper.
I'm the first person to defend mobil 1 and almost always recommend its use, i've seen several and owned several engines that only got a steady diet of mobil 1 and can contend that you will not find an oil that will leave your engine as clean as mobil 1 does. However due to the warrenty issue's at this point I'm running the chev. supreme, its cheap, its very very good, and in most 4k mile anaylsis outperforms mobil 1.

I totally agree with greg w. on the valvoline, its typically outperformed in anaylis by even the wal-mart brand oil, its additive pkg. is deplorable. I also avoid castrol products due to thier misleading marketing, and the fact that they give the U.S. market a very weak product all the while they have some very good performing oils over seas. $5 a qt. for a group III oil(syntec) no thanx.
