Love that 303

This has been mentioned before on this website usually in concert with other car care products but I have been using this stuff since the mid-80's on all types of plastics and rubber exposed to UV. In most cases I found out I was really wasting the stuff by spraying directly on tires especially until I realized that a small cloth square with just a spritz goes a long way. The mirrors and step bumper surface and wiper area seem to need the most but its really a small price to pay for such a great product.

Tires look much better than those other shiny looking products ( you know who you are). One mistake I made on the Xterra was trying to wax the plastic BBBIIIIIIIIGGGGGGGGGG mistake as the plastic is still stained after 4 years but you know the 303 cleans it right up as long as I reapply.

Just wanted to re-iterate for any newbies

You are 110% correct about 303. A trick I use for applying 303 is to take a small foam-type brush - they come in various widths, apply a small amount to it, and "paint" the 303 on my weather stripping, underhood hoses, etc.
As for tire shine, the ultimate is Stoner's Tire product which I spray onto the foam brush and apply to the tires. The stuff builds up on the tires over time to the point that after washing, just dry it real well w/ a towel and the lustre will come thru without another application.

Another thing, 303 overspray on paint and glass, will easily wipe off and not leave an oily residue like ArmorAll, etc.

Good application techniques - I like to use a thin cotton cloth covered sponge applicator, or for general vinyl cleanup/treatment spray a pure cotton washcloth and use sparingly.

However, I did an environmental test with 303 versus my still favorite vinyl treatment product made by Durgloss (Brother's Reasearch Co. out of NC) a few years ago. I used my sister-inlaw's Geo Tracker spare tire cover which was vinyl and attached to the rear exterior of the vehicle. One half was applied with Duragloss and the other half with 303. Both initially made the tire cover look very nice compared to cleaned untreated surface (as expected). After 3 weeks, the 303 side was slightly less "black" looking and upon wetting showed less beading/water runoff than the Duragloss side. The Duragloss provided longer lasting protection.

303 is still good stuff compared to alot of other products. I have no affiliation with any vehicle treatment companies. Just an enthusiast.

YMMV,
