Angry Bedliner woes.

Well, it's starting getting hot here in Louisiana and guess what? My spray-on bedliner has started to blister. The attached photo shows only one problem area. The area that is affected is about two sq. ft. I'm afraid that the area that is blistered is a perfect place for moisture to get trapped and rust out my bed. Has anyone taken theirs to the dealer and if so what was the fix and how long did it take? The other pic is a Utili-track bolt on the bed floor that is rusted.

I have a dime size bubble on mine. The dealer ordered another bed for me. They said it was the only fix.

Oh man that looks like crap, I wouldn't be standing for that.
I've been watching mine, so far so good, but we haven't been getting the temps that you have been getting either.[yet]
You are going to take it to the dealers arent you?
Good luck,
Daryl

That sucks. Question: do you think a bed mat will help in any way with this problem? I bought one to protect against gouging the liner and also to keep stuff from slip slidin' around. I'm going to remove it every now and then to air things out back there, but now I'm wondering if it will be trapping heat in a negative way or protecting the liner in a positive way. Time will tell I guess.

Anyone else out there with a bed mat having blistering problems?

Rather than have a new bed ordered, I'd asked that they send you to a Line-X dealer and have them sandblast the old liner out and spray in a better and thicker coat that you won't have to worry about. A whole new bed is too much of a hassle, and chances are that the problem will come back. Not to mention that something could go wrong with the install, ie loose bolts, scratched paint, etc.

Yes, I am going to take it to the dealer. I'm trying to get all of my ducks in a row first and I was wondering if there was a TSB I could mention to the dealer. My greatest fear is taking it to the dealer and the dealer saying, "well I be darn, I ain't never seen nothin' like that before and that probably won't hurt nothin' and if it does bring it back then".

See the attached pic of the other area. It kinda looks like the surface of the moon. It looks worse in person than in the picture.

I was wondering myself about the effects of a bed mat trapping heat and causing the liner to peel. In the future I had planned on putting a mat over the spay-on liner to protect it from shovel gouging when unloading dirt. I have not put anything into or done anything harmful to the bed that would make it peel-no spilled gasoline, caustic chemicals, loads of dirt, heat sources, etc. If this is a across the board problem with Titans with spray-in liners, I suspect that Titans in the, hotter, southern part of the U.S. to be affected first, then northerners. Garaged Titans, I would think, will be affected last.

Angry

Makes me glad I didn't order the factory bedliner. Looks like they're just not spending the right amount of prep time to get it done right. As for the hardware, yank 'em and replace with stainless.

My nephew works at a place that is an authorized Line-X dealer. He told me months ago that there was a squabble between the provider of the spay-on bed liner and Nissan over how thick the application should be. Nissan wanted thinner; the provider of the spray on wanted thicker. He said after the contract is up they won't be providing the spray-on chemicals to Nissan.

I agree Sammy. If Nissan hasn't issued a TSB and you get a brand new bed, there's a chance the same problem could occur on the new bed. If Nissan authorizes you to take your truck to a Line-X dealer it will probably be fixed right.

I got the same problem Bayou: Bed Liner blistering

I am taking mine to dealer next week. I'll let you know happens. I almost of the mind to tell the dealer I taking to a local Rhino lining shop and have them sandblast it and put Rhino lining in. I had in my previous 2 trucks and loved it. of course I would want the dealer to pay for it( we can all dream ). anyways i'll let you know what my dealers says.

I took my Titan to the dealership today for them to look at the bedliner that was peeling. It was a good day to take it in for them to look at it because it was sunny for the first time in 2 weeks and the heat was making the bedliner come up much more.

The service manager looked at it and said, "that's definitely is not right". I asked him what does Nissan do in a situation like this and he said "I'm not sure, order a new bed?" He said that their dealership has never seen this type of problem before. He was very sympathetic and took digital pictures to send to Nissan .

I will keep everyone posted on what happens.

I noticed your truck was an early build. Isn't it known that there were issues on early builds as far as the bedliner?
