Quad Ram Hemi not heavier than CC Titan.

Just a FYI posting.I've read here many times that the Hemi Ram Quad cab is heavier than the Titan CC.According to Consumer Reports that isn't so,and they actually weigh(both axles actually) them;most of the moto mags just take the manufacturers #'s.
The SE CC Titan 4x4 weighs 5380,and the Quad cab Hemi 4x4 weighs exactly the same 5380.A few other numbers from their 4x4 1/2 ton CC truck review. The Titan had 18" 265/70 18; Hemi 245/70 17-the "faster" wheels. The Hemi also has better weight distribution(for drag racing) 52/48 vs Titan 55/45.The accel numbers are close;I'll let you guess which is which.Which truck would you rather have?
0-60 7.3 vs 7.7
1/4 16 vs 16.1
45-65 4.9 vs 4.7
60-0 139 vs 152
Towing 6500 lbs 0-60 17.2 vs 17.4
mpg 13 vs 11
Payload 1120 vs 1270
CR didn't really "rip" either one,but they didn't "like" them either. They commented on the dinky 1120 lbs payload the Titan has,and the "THIRST" of the Hemi. The "winners" were the Tundra and the Chevy-nice trucks, not fun,but good trucks..
CR buys the trucks they test,so they don't get the "ringers" the other moto mags get,and they don't have an axe to grind $$ wise-no ads. They do favor safety and reliability more than "fun".Charlie

Didn't say gear-did have TRAILER TOW GROUP?

1#TON,they didn't say what rear end it had,but they said it had the Trailer Tow Group?Would the 3.92 come with that tow pk.The Titan did have the Big Tow,so it had the quicker 3.36 rear end.
I wish they would give the gearing,or at least rpms in top gear at 60 mph,so you can get an idea of the gearing.
Speaking of the 17" being the "faster" wheels, has anyone on either forum hunted for lighter wheels?I wonder if the Tundra 16" wheels or any of the Chevy wheels will fit the Titan? Our 17 and 18" wheels will fit their vehicles.
If the Tundra 16" were bolt on without interfering with the calipers or discs, they would be a cheap, reversible way to "regear" and drop some spinning weight. I could just put low profile tires on my 17's,but they ruin the ride and an equal height 16" set up should be lighter.Charlie

The tow package on a ram does not include the gears, The 3.92 is usually an option. Ill almost bet it had 3.55 Gears they put it in almost every truck with 17's Unless ordered special. I could be wrong though ya never no !!!

Was the ram AWD? Almost every test that I have seen the Ram is AWD for some reason. Great times for both trucks. They both have their strong points. With the great gearing of the Titan, it seems to really come out of the hole hard, but it looks like the ram was running it down by the end of the quarter. Both really awsome trucks!

My LE CC came in at 5400 Lb even with nobody in the cab (state certified scale). I don't recall how much fuel (over a month ago). Did have a nissan class IV hitch but not the tow package. 18 inch wheels.

I found it interesting comparing the f150 vs. Titan vs. Ram . f150 was heaviest, titan second heavest, Ram 3rd. HP ratings Ram, Titan, f150. The Titan was much faster than the 150lb heavier f150 (duh) but also than the 200lbs lighter Ram. Thats saying something.

I think it's all about getting the power to the ground, The Titan seems to have a very effecient drivetrain for a truck. Looks like the Hemi's are losing some by some computer bugs. Ford has no excuse, I think the guys designing the powertrain missed the memo letting them know how much that thing was going to weigh. Well built truck, but what a dog!

Personally I think this is a BS add. It doesn't list any detailed info, gear ratio's 4x4's what options. Nothing ! And I don't even think the weight's are right. My 2x4 Qc weighs 5.250. And The Silverado will kick the Ford's *** up and down the road. That's BS

Not arguing with you there 1 Ton, I was just talking in general, that add gives no useful info at all, just trying to figure why the Ford is soooooooooooooooo slow!

I know you weren't arguing, Am I reading it right???? Does it say the F150 is faster in the 1/4 than the Chevy.

Oh, I didn't even pay close attention cause I saw they weren't showing the models/options. This article is BS, you would be hard pressed to convince me a single cab F-150 could beat a Crew Cab Silverado.
