Performance tips for the drag strip.....

Greetings,

Im a HEMI man by trade, but have much respect for the Titan. The 5.6L Nissan V8 is an excellent engine (I know I work for BOSCH and we benchmarked it versus comparable displacement V8 motors on the market). Anyway there are a few low $$$$ mod's the HEMI boys are running that are mainly old school drag racing tips but here are a few:

1. Lose weight (Spare, Jack, etc) 100lb=0.1sec
2. Remove front sway bar (Helps lower your 60 ft.)
3. Add spring clamps to rear leaf springs ($9 at Autozone, significantly reduces axle wrap and help lower 60 ft.)
4. High pressure front tires, Low pressure backs. At the track the fastest HEMI's run 55psi front/24psi rears.
5. Let the tranny shift itself. Leave it in 'D'. At least on the HEMI's its about 0.2 tenths quicker this way.
6. Add 1 quart less oil on race day. For example if your motor calls for 7 qt drain it and fill it with 6 qt. I do this only on race day and use 5w30 mobil 1.

Anyway these tricks DO HELP tremendously. Most were first posted by HEMI777 on DTW and I take no credit (BUT I USE THEM ALL!). Anyway for your next trip to the track you should try a few. The 60 ft. time is where the most speed is lost on stock trucks.

Good luck!

Southern,

Good post and great tips for those that want to run 'em. Appreciate the civil manner of your posts as well. Welcome to the board.

Hey, SouthernHemi, I don't race but a lot of the guys on here do, so thanks for the info.
By the way I was in your neck of the woods last weekend, stayed the night in Gastonia and picked up an old antique tractor in Charlote the next day. I was impressed with my truck hauling the tractor home. If youve ever traveled to Knoxville from Charlote you know how steep and winding that stretch of Interstate is.
Anyway, thanks again, drop in anytime,
Cheers
Daryl
