Limited Slip Diff (LSD) in Titan?

I was wondering whether the Titan comes standard with a rear LSD. I didn't think so, but I did a light burnout from a standing start and got two nearly equal length tire marks. I have a 4x2 XE with no options, and I thought I would only get 1 tire mark w/o an LSD.

I tried this in a sports car that I KNOW doesn't have an LSD and also got 2 burnout marks.

Can someone explain this to me?

Thanks in advance.

Nissan doesn't offer LSD on the Titan because it has a new anti-slip system using the ABS sensors in each wheel. If I understand LSD right then it doesn't work until one wheel slips so if both wheels had equal traction (neither slipped) they would leave two marks

personally, i'd much prefer a limited slip, it lets you really put the power down. As I understand it, the ABLS works by engaging the brakes on the tire that is slipping and transferring it to the tire that (hopefully) has traction. It is effective but in the meantime, it is robbing you of some power.

BTY, technically speaking if both tires have equal traction they will both spin, even on an open diff.

No VDC is an option, ABLS is standard.

According to NissanUSA.com, Active Brake Limited Slip is standard on 4x4's and part of the Off Road package on 4x2's.

It is called active braking limited slip (ABLS) and is active even when the VDC is turned off.

Here is a fourwheel drive with front and rear open differentials:

http://static.howstuffworks.com/flas...rive-basic.swf

As you just saw, if both of the front and rear wheels on one side lose traction at the same time you get stuck.

Here is what the situation looks like with ABLS, which howstuffworks.com calls the ultimate four-wheel drive system (actually in reference to the hummers, but the Titans is similar in function)

http://static.howstuffworks.com/flas...e-advanced.swf

And that is the beauty of ABLS - you get the best of both worlds. Most trucks that come with a standard LSD have it in the rear only. The ABLS works on all four if you have a 4x4.
