Got the ARE tonneau today!

Hey all!

Had a happy surprise, my ARE LSII tonneau came in early today (not expecting until the end of the week). I didn't get a chance to take some pictures till tonight though, so they are a little weak on telling the whole story.

Looks good, where did you get?

Did it come painted?
Does it utilize utilitrack?

Sorry for all the questions.

I bought mine in Albuquerque, NM for $820 installed. That included sales tax. I did not get the electric lock. When I ordered they got the paint code off the truck and it comes painted to match. It does utilize the utilitrack in that the clamps (4) fit into the track and into the frame of cover. Bed divider still works well but the bed extender would not clear the clamps while in the end of the bed. Also would not go to the proper position on the tailgate, feet set up on the ribs instead of in the flat areas. Cover should be easy to remove by removing the four clamps. Weighs approx. 120 lbs according to the installer so you would need help to set it off the truck due to the awkwardness. No water leaks at car wash, that I noticed, and not much dust coming in. Seems to work well and I like mine.

I think SON covered it nicely! The price is what I got quoted within $2.00. There is another one that fits ours that is only $650.00 or something installed, but I wanted the LSII. I can't remember the manufacturer of the other one though... I will post some daylight pics here sometime.

Noticed on your third print that you have orange inside your
dual pipes. I assume it's rust or stain? I'm having the same
thing as my Titan drips a lot of condensate especially at idle.
I have the stock muffler but dual pipes, however they're
stainless steel and I'm surprised by the inside discoloration.
Anyone else have a "wet" truck? Gets any worse I may have
to diaper the thing.

Yeah, its a little hold-over reminder of the "orange thingy" for the Frontier owners out there. I needed some orange to remind me of my Frontier! Anyway, yeah, it went orange like overnight! It is a dripper! I guess the outside is stainless, not the inside

Thanks for the pics. I have owned a bunch of ARE caps, and as I do not intend to out a cap on my Titan when i get it, I suspect I too will go with this cover.

I would really like to see some pics of the clamps under the cover. I had an ARE on my GMC and would like to compare. BTW, I really liked it.

on the "orange" in the pipes.... Don't know if your tips have this, but the Banks tip has a small.. maybe 1/8" diamater hole in the bottom at the base of the tip, maybe 3/4" from the rolled edge. My tip has been on for 5 mos and has no rust inside. Would drilling a small hole in your tips help the rust??

Hmmm... Good point PC... I didn't even think to look, but come to think of it all past vehicles have had a little hole in it like that. Guess I might have to drill!!

oh crap, ordered the ARE on Tuesday.... (i don't have utilitrac...hope this is not a problem) Ya mine is $782. painted and installed w/taxes included.... From Leominster MA (don't ask).... having some help from the bros on this site I also researched the Gaylord Tonneau and I was quoted by a nearby Dealer, $875 un-painted, uninstalled.... pretty easy, ARE (I hope)

Should not be a problem, just make sure they have the right clamps before you drive all the way over to the install place. Let them know you do not have the utilitrac.
