I know a few of you have completed your MP3 hardwirings so I have a power question for ya'll. Where exactly is that "violet with a silver stripe" line? I have researched some posts and they all say in the head unit, but is that the head unit that plugs into the face or do I have to pull out the actual unit and find the power in the back of it? Also, has everyone been having okay luck tapping both the 3rd cigarette lighter and the line-amp off that cord?
Thanks!

the violet line is in the back of the unit ( near the ac plug harness)--you have to pull it out, and the power line will feed both the line amp and the cigaretter lighter
hey what is a cool air snake??
sammysandbag posted some pics in the av section if you need pictorials
Cool thanks for the info Smoke. Now, please bear with me while I get my dyslexic brain to right itself here... so by "back of the unit", you mean the back of that front face plate where all the AC harnesses just above the tow/haul and VDC switch are? Also to clarify, that harness bundle is NEXT to the AC bundle, not the one sitting vertical on the upper right of the face panel?
Thanks again!
Oh yeah, the cold air snake... I just call it that because it snakes it way around stuff in the engine compartment to find "cooler" air to bring to the Volant. I actually haven't got it yet (still on back order) and I have no idea if it actually DOES anything, but I figured if I can lose $75.00 playing low-limit poker against little old ladies chasing flushes with rags, I could gamble $75.00 to see if the snake works!

No, by "back of the unit" he means back of the head unit. You must remove the HU to gain access to the plug that carries the ON power.
I've looked the pictures over and over already, but I was having a hard time deciphering what went where in my mind. Thats why I created this thread to get a better explanation. However, from what both of you have said, I am now able to make the mental picture work for me and have an idea of what I am looking at in the pictures. Thank you both very much!
Once you get the HU out you'll be able to find the wire easily. Then just use the crimp on style splices to tap into the power. You can ground it to the HU's screws as I did.
COOL... I got the amp and third cigarette tapped into the violet HU power line and I grounded to the screw like you suggested. The power is clean and good. I got so excited I went to go finish the hookup, but I quickly discovered that the my line out jack wont click into the AUX jack (following Deeger's plan on that one where you unscrew the AUX jack). I am guessing that my Lyra's RCA to line is a tad too small for the AUX jack. Anybody else run into this problem? Thanks again Sammy and Smoke, its almost there!

Sounds like you almost got it
I'm not sure why it isnt working, but any standard 1/8" stereo plug should fit in the aux jack...make sure that is what you have

Well, I am guessing the Lyra has a 2.5mm plug and the aux jack takes a 3.5mm. I will head to Radio Shack today if I can to find some adaptors, otherwise I will have to wait until next week since I work for the rest of the week through Monday.
Okay... dilemma solved! Everything power related is connected and the player works and sounds great with about 10db raised through the line-amp. The next step is to figure out the best way to mount it, though I have some ideas. Stuff for next week's days off. Thanks again for all the pointers guys!
