drove Titan over Land Rover course.

Hello all. I was in Asheville staying at the Bilmore Inn this weekend for a wedding. Anyhow, they have an outdoor center there where I was able to rent a mtn bike for a few hours and I noticed they had LR driving school. In the past I have had both a 1996 Discovery and a 2000 Discovery. My brother currently owns a 2002 Range Rover, so he and I decided to take the 2 hour lesson. I am a fairly experienced off roader and was impressed with the depth of which the instructor went with my brother, who has never had the tires dirty on anything. Anyhow, it was a real course, about 3 or so miles long with all kinds of obstacles set out. To make a long story short, after we were done I just had to try the Titan out on it, and I will tell ya, she can 'wheel. The LSABS did a great job, just like the 04 RR we drove it in. In fact, the Titan slipped less than the RR. I must say, however, that in the case of what I was doing, a true locker would have been a little scary. I never thought I would say it, but I think the traction control is possibly a better answer in some cases. The locker would have made by tail slide sideways a lot where the traction control did not. Oh well, I guess I am getting soft with a comment like that. Anyhow, just thought you guys would want to hear about it.

Pretty impressive, from what I understand those LR's and RR's are pretty capable. BTW, the Titan has ABLS.

Wow. LR's and RR's are some of the most capable vehicles on the planet when it comes to off-road work. This is a glowing endorsement for Titan's off-road capability. Thanks for the post TNTITAN!

Did you notice how the Titan seems to shrink when off road. I thought wheelin would be difficult do to the titans size, but it doesn't feel any bigger than my previous 4runner.

When I was stationed in England I went to an off road park with a buddy. Off course 99.9% of the vehicles were RR, some new and many older defender style rovers. We watched a 60's era rover diesel go thru a pond to a depth nearly equal to the roof line. My buddy a tad ****y with his 94 pathfinder set out to do the same, against everyones advise he tried it, well we made it half way thru, then sunk, all the way to the roof. We egressed out the back hatch, not a pretty site. Kinda sucked, we had been there only 15min. before my bonehead buddy sunk his truck ruining the ecu which was under the passenger seat. Needless to say the rover guys made a lot of fun of us Yanks. I was extremely impressed with the off road prowess of the rovers, you don't need big tires to get thru the tuff stuff, to see a vehicle nearly totally submerged in water come out the other side was a site to see as well.
