Question Comparing TITAN and F150 Interiors

Hey everybody - new member here.

I've seen several journalists and owners mention that the F150 has a higher quality interior than the Titan. I test drove an F150 XLT and Titan SE over the weekend and I just don't see how the F150 was any better.

Fit and finish seemed about equal in the two. The Titan did have a quiet rattle on the passenger side of the dash, but the F150 had some visual imperfections. Materials also seemed comparable. Whatever plastic material comprised the majority of the F150 dash was not appealing to me at all. The Lariat may well beat that LE for all I know, I'm not considering those models.

For those of you that prefer the F150, what models were you comparing? Am I missing something in my comparison?

The only F-150 interior I like is the Lariat, it's real nice and clean. Fit and finish are better than the Titan, but still leaves a lot to be desired. The XLT isn't too exciting, actually, it's just plain boring. Although the materials aren't quite as good on the Titan, I like the look and feel, especially with the gated shifter.

I have no problem with the interior look of the Titan, even those knobs that some people complained are too light and wobbly, as long as they function right. What I don't like is when things falling off, rattles and squeaks, seats are too soft and flat, seat belts banging on the panels (after being used).

I rode the shuttle Quest van from the dealer to work many times and the whole interior made all kind of loud noise. I was currious and asked the driver what year the van was, he told me it's a 2001 . I am worried about my truck in a few years.

But it seems Nissan is responding to the complaints regarding all of their cars' interior quality. Look at the ads of the 2005 Altima.

To me the thing that stood out most between the interiors of the F150 SuperCrew and the Titan CrewCab is that the F150 interior is much smaller, especially in the back.

And yes, Lariat is really nice inside, and usually the model the Ford dealer has on the showroom floor. But that's not really a fair comparison to the Titan's interior materials.

I am not saying the Titan is without flaw. But so far (5000 miles) I don't have any rattles yet. I do wish they would user tougher plastic, it gets nicked too easily.

I'm unsure who actually made that Quest Van because the Merc Villager is the identical (same) vehicle. The '04 Quest is redesigned completely. I've got one of those as well and it is tight and rattle free. The fit and finish is actually much better than the Titan. I hate to admit it, by I wish my Titan was as nice inside.

I test drove the Lariate before finally buying a Titan SE CC. The Lariate interior was clearly nicer - but all the woodgrain is plastic too. So the lariat has nicer, more appealing plastic - big woop. The XLT interior was comparable to my SE, maybe a little nicer. To me, what stands out about the Titan is the stuff you don't see - ie driveline.

In a prior thread on this topic BriarMan posted about the "rich Corinthian Leather" in the F-150 with a pic of an old Chrysler Cordoba ad. I found the post, but the pic is not there anymore. What a shame, as this was the funniest post that I have ever seen on this forum.

Nissan has a long way to go on interior design, particularly in its choice of materials. The plastic in my Titan looks cheap and is easily scuffed and scratched. The ergonmics leave a lot to be desired too. I may be spoiled because I have been driving Audi's for the past 4 or 5 years (they consistently rate at the top of the scale for interior design), but you should get a higher quality interior for the price of the Titan. I think the F150 has a much nicer interior finish, but I prefer the roominess of the Titan and the drivetrain feels much better, so I bought the Titan.

To me, the Titan interior is clean looking and functional. Neither truck could compare to the f&f in the 1987 BMW 325e I'm driving currently. The real test will be how well everything holds up. Hopefully the Quest/Villager venture isn't an a good indicator of the durability we will see from this truck.

After driving both trucks, I much prefer the way the Titan handles, and that sold it. Not having to find a truck with the larger engine option is nice too. It's a truck after all. The interior features would probably matter more to me if I was shopping for a sedan.

One thing I miss is the linear throttle response I've experienced with past Nissans. The throttle on the Titan appears to be biased toward the inital portion of it's travel. I guess that's an attempt to make it appeal to domestic/Chebby buyers?

the lariat interior is way nicer and put together better. the leather is superior in quality, and small things like speaker and tweeter location in the stereo package are better then the titan. the few inches in width on the titan make a big difference in comfort for larger dudes like myself. all in all the lariat is nicer (as ford has more experience), but the titan is a better truck.
