Angry bad happenings with the finance guy

ok here's the story-bought my truck 2 weeks ago and told him i was going to pay it off in 2 weeks. he told me he'd do a simple interest loan and i wouldn't get charged any prepayment penalty fees and also get reimbursed for gap protection. needless to say i got charged 840 in fees and they can't refund my gap insurance 480. i was boiling and went straight to the owner and told him his finance guy is an ***. the owner calmed me down, said"rick, you are a great costumer and give us tons of referrals i'll take care of it". i know these people fairly well so we'll see what happens next week.

rick (sorry, needed to rant)

Lousy situation, I hope they take care of you. It's getting harder to trust what anyone says anymore.

2 weeks. Hah...amateur. I financed mine for one week. Top that. Just kidding man. I am guessing you meant 24 months. Hope they take care of you like they said they would.

Rick, next time you should simply have the dealer hold a check for 2 weeks then simply give them the correct one when it is ready. We do this all the time in the car financing world. All it means is that the salesman does not get his commision until the correct check is ready. I know this is after the fact, but it can be a heads up for anyone buying a vehicle this way.

What was the gap insurance for if you intended on paying off the truck in 2 weeks? You do take a good hit on day one, but not that good. Gap insurance is junk.

Got ours financed for 5 years at 1.9%, my credit union is currently paying 3.3% on the savings account. It would cost me money to pay it off, I would be losing 1.4% to take "MY" money out.

I will keep their money for the full 5 years, Fab.

Thumbs up

i have a home equity loan-paid off the truck, the boat, and a credit card. the total payments for all three were 900 a month, so i'll save tons of money monthly and have more money for mods. once i decide on what mods i want. the dealership just called and told me they can fix my problem with the finance guyand to come in tuesday to get my money.

Rick, did you buy it at Twin City? I got mine from Ted Russell. I get my accessories over at Twin City because I work down the street and they give me stuff at wholesale. For example, I only paid $142 for the fog light kit. If you ever need anything let me know and I will get it for you at a discount.
