New member saying hello!

I currently own an '01 Tundra but have been looking hard at the Titan. Are there any previous Tundra owners on this forum? And are you glad you have the Titan over the Tundra? I am looking at a 4x2 SE CC and can't decide between the smoke and deep water colors. Thanks for the replys and any help you may offer in the form of things to look for before taking delivery.

eyes2east,
Your name caught my eye. Are you a Christian, looking to the east for Jesus? If so, Hallelujah! Me too. Have never owned a Tundra but traded an 03 GMC. Mine Titan is CC LE 4x4. Like is so far. Only had 3 weeks. Gas mileage worse than the GMC but maybe it will get better with breakin. Got a K&N order for it now. I noticed you live in Mobile....I live in Atmore. Small world. Bought mine from Sandy Sansing in P'cola but Pat Peck has the best service dept. hands down. Bought lift and chrome wheels from them and they beat others pricing believe it or not. Talk to Wes in parts over there at Peck.

hey east, i used to own a tundra myself, and let me tell you the TITAN is a huge step up. its bigger in all aspects, yet still has a better turning raduis and has gotten me better mpg. (kinda funny that a bigger truck gets that over a smaller truck) get a TITAN. i would say though wait a few months and grab an 05 model. thats what i would do if i had no TITAN right now and was looking to get one.

Hi East, Whatever you decide on, the Titan is a major improvement over the Tundra.
First thing to do before delivery is to print the 'checklist' from this forum, and use it with the dealer before you leave the lot. Checklist covers the most common issues with Titans delivered to date.
Welcome to the Forum!!
Dale

I traded a 2000 limited 4x4 acess cab for my titan. The only only problem I had with the tundra was the lack of power towing my "cat" (raft) up long steep grades. The titan is much larger, especially the interior. The only problen I have with the titan is the marginal 4wd performance. The approach angle is good, but the ground clearance is to low. I am beating my front skid plate to death. Driving on river bars to launch my cat is a challenge. I rarely ever hit rock in my tundra. The titan hits rocks all the time. The titans limited slip takes to long to engage I prefer the old clutch limited slip.

Thanks for the replies everyone! I was thinking of waiting for the '05 but I would like to take advantage of the 1.9% financing. Where is the checklist on this forum? Skeeter I am a christian and from Mobile, is there anyone else on here in our part of the country? I am currently dealing with Pat Peck Nissan. They have a very good selection on their lot.

Eyes2east-

I previously owned an 02 Tundra 4wd Access Cab TRD, and now own a Titan LE 4wd. Overall the Titan is in a different world than the Tundra. For starters, the truck is larger in all aspects, engine, towing, interior room, It also comes with a lot more gingerbread (ammenities) that I find are very useful. When purchasing my Titan, I did not even look at the 04 Tundras. I'm sure that Toyota has added some more bells & whistles since the 02 but my needs were for something that would haul my cat (bobcat). The Tundra's Towing capacity was around 7200lbs. which was not enough. My only knock on the Titan is some QC issues. IMO, The build quality of the Tundra was better, but the performance and usefullness of the Titan is better suited for my needs.

I'm in Enterprise, AL, and am in P'cola and Mobile on a regular basis for work. Maybe we need to have a Lower Alabama/Florida Pan handle meet.

Hey guys! Drove home a black SE CC 4x2 lastnight for a test drive. So far I have found a screw loose on the dash, the tailgate only latches on one side and the back seatbelt is stuck in the locked position. I did not take it home until late last night and I am at work now, so I will not get to drive it as much as I would like. I will be returning it tonight, hopefully they will be ready to deal!
