Looking for new truck

I am once again in the market for a new truck. I have already ruled out the Chevy just to blah blah. The dodge has horrible gas mileage ( have a friend with one) man they are some big azz trucks through. I looked at the ford F-150 reg cab 4x4. It is not to bad. Then i looked at the new titan and its is also a nice truck. I have been looking at different sites for any issues on these 2 trucks and have found that no production truck is perfect. I am undecided as of today but need to make a move soon. I have a 99 frontier and a 97 F-150 right now. I need to keep one and trade the other. Any help would be great folks. Help me decide. both are new designs....

Go with the Titan. You will not regret it. I have had people stop and start asking questions. I love the looks the Chevy, Dodge and Ford drivers give. They see what it is and keep on moving out of the way. I have not had a problem with mine. 1300 miles on the odometer and getting ready to drive from Cincinnati to Hilton Head, SC in a couple weeks.

I bought my Titan about 3 weeks ago. Prior to that, I had driven all the major brands. For me, it was down to the Titan and the Tundra. I thought both were superior vehicles. I was like you in my opinion of the Dodge and the Chevy. The Ford for me had a few things I disliked: 1. Lack of power, 2. I found the front seats to be uncomfortable, 3. location of the transmission cooler, 4. lack of a reliable dealer (may not be a problem for you). If you haven't driven the Tundra, it is definitely worth a try. It doesn't have the power of the Titan, but the interior is well appointed and I thought the ride was superb. All in all, I am very happy with my Titan. Sure, it has its quirks, but I would not hesitate in buying it again. I wish you all success in your decision.

Test drive them both, guarantee you will end up with the Titan. Power in the Titan is far more superior (Ford = 300 hp, Titan = 305 hp, Ford feels like 200 hp). Most articles you read will say the Ford's interior has more quality materials, but unless you plan on buying the Lariat, there is not a whole lot different than the Titan, or any other truck. I have 6500 miles on it, I get a steady 14.5-15.5 mpg 100% in town driving. Took a 350 mile trip across Florida and back with A/C on 110% of the time and got 17.7 mpg (60/40 hwy/city) (SE 4x4 Crew, w/out the big tow or off road pkg).

As for problems. I have only had a few, besides the problems everybody seems to be having (hissing A/C, and fading radio). My rear diff was seeping around the bottom bolts, passenger seat starting creaking and an annoying rattle from under the right rear seat of my Crew Cab. All have been fixed. Good luck with your decision.

Oh yeah...keep the nissan, especially with the gas prices these days, plus I am pretty sure the Nissan will outlast the ford.

If you are looking for some un-biased advise this isn't the best place for it.

Arrowman - you wouldn't frequent the Jacksonville Jaguars MB would you? There's an Arrowman over there too. Anyway, my decision came down to the F150 and the Titan. I was disappointed with the power of the F150, and Ford charges you for a bunch of stuff that comes standard on the Titan. Heck the 5.4 engine is an option - I can't imagine how pathetic the 4.6 is.

The F150 had a much nicer interior - better quality plastic. But I have owned several Nissans and the drive trains have been smooth and flawless. Combine that with the fact that the Titan was more fun to drive made my decision.

Go to Carsdirect.com and get a quote for each of them. This is free and takes about a day to get a response. Then take a test drive in both of them. I did this and I ened up with a Titan. I got more truck for less money and I liked the ride and power of the Titan. The only problem I have with my Titan is the AC system seems too loud.

I bought mine in May. Build date was 4/29/04. The only thing I regret about my Titan is that I didn't wait till '05 model. Too many problems (mostly minor though) are really getting to me. There's no guarantee that most of the initial kinks would be fixed with the second year model, but if I could go back and start all over again, I would be willing to wait for the '05. Good luck!

Buy the Ford. Too many Titans on the street detracts from the ooooh-aaahhhhh factor. Seriously, drive both, feel the difference in drive trains, power, handling and that should convince. Zero problems with mine in over 3000 miles, no complaints and I haven't had this much fun with any vehicle since my '67 GTO.
Have fun!

This could be a completely true statement if it weren't for the fact that some of us did a lot of homework before making our purchase, (with emotions set aside.) I made my choice by selecting the modern technology in the drivetrain, and by making sure that I would fit in the cab. Fords and Dodges don't fit me well, and the Chevy is out of date. (Just sold my 92 Silverado, it gave me 192,000 miles of dependable service). Would have bought another one...if they were "Truck of the Year" again.
The bonus to the fact that I made the choice based on what "I" need, is that the Titan is FUN to drive. Not unlike a sports car, it is nimble, and it is quick, and it will carry everything that I need it to carry as well.
If you choose to be "Loyal" to a certain brand, for whatever reason, then you are possibly being swayed by emotions or peer pressure or whatever to make your choice.
If you just go by the modern design, and getting the most "Bang for the Buck", and if the Titan meets your needs, you will probably be happy with your choice. If your "Friends" ridicule you for not buying a Ford or Chev or Dodge...then just get new friends...there is a new group of Titan owners who will probably just smile and nod when they see you. They will understand why you bought a Titan, even if it is for a different reason than why you did. "Trucks are expensive...good friends are priceless"
When it comes right down to it...you are the one who needs to make a choice that you will be happy with. Try to drive them all, and see which one makes "YOU" happy.
After all, whatever trips my trigger, may not even make you draw your gun.
Happy hunting,
Dave
PS I am going to use mine for hunting...

Buy the Ford or wait a couple of years before buying a Titan

I had a Tundra previously and I personally think the Titan is far superior to it. Granted it was a 2002, but still with the problems that it had while I had it led me to want to try something else, along with the ONLY dealer I would deal with was 20-25 miles one way (far other side of town) and it wasn't viable to keep driving down there for service and all. Having owned a Nissan years ago and not liking it because of carb problems, I was still a little leary of trying Nissan again. I am glad though I did finally break down and get the Titan.

I love driving my Titan. Everything about it is great.(Power, standard features etc.)

Tried the Ford, thought it was very nice, but being young the power was a major factor.

I was also impressed with nissan's reliability and resale value.

One thing to consider is Ford probably has stronger dealership network.(although customer service has a reputation for being a crap shoot with all the major manufacturers {sp?} ).

I absolutely love my truck but my dealership is approx 5.5hrs away and I haven't been able to drive since June 17/04 [37 days].

Best of luck with your decision.I hope it makes you happy.
Mike.

sidenote--I think I used all the parenthesis [{()}] I could for one short paragraph.

Well i went with they F-150 guys. Its a reg cab 4x4. It was a tough decision but i had to stick with the ford. It simply looks better. The titian looks to rounded behind the doors and kind of like a sled. The front end never grew on me and looks kind of toyish. The fors looked like a mans truck and that is what i got . Sorry.
