burning oil smell

I drove out to help a buddy of mine move some furnitute yesterday. Drove about 10 miles up the freeway then another 8-9 down residential streets, when I got out of the truck I smelled what seemed like burning oil. There's no other way I can describe it. I got back in checked the gauge and it read normal. I looked under the truck at the rear diff and it looked fine, no paint blistering off or anything. I only have 1500 miles on it, and no I have not checked the rear diff fluid yet. I am taking it to the dealer tomorrow for the blistering bed liner issue and will have them check the rear diff fluid as well. Anythying else I should have them check while it's there?

I would recommend checking all fluid levels (engine oil, transmission, differential, coolant, PS, PB, battery) as well as the tire pressures. On the burning oil, some people have reported a little bit of gear oil coming out of the rear axle vent. You might also want to make sure that the A/C drain that goes through the firewall on the passenger side doesn't drip back into the cab. VSHORTT posted a thread with pics on this issue.

You sure it wasnt the brakes? Were you particularly hard on them for the first time?
