But I wanted to convey the total terror in the eyes of the sales men, and managers when I mentsioned that I was comparing thier trucks to the titan... especially at the ford dealership...
they started BASHING the titan... I mean... the titan cant do this... and cant do that... and I wouldnt jump on the bumper of the titan like I am on thisf-150 right now... this truck has been top rated for 26 years... bla bla bla...
They were shaken in thier boots! It took all I could do to keep from laughing... sales man went and got his manager... after I told him that I was looking at the titan...
manager started bashing harder... he said, here I am going to let the truck speak for it self...
threw me the keys, and told the sales man, "let him drive it as long as he wants, and to where he wants"
so I put 35 miles on the truck and on the way back to the dealership... I started talking... and bashing the f-150... this thing rides like a frikken caddy... are you sure that this thing can tow anything... feals like the back end would scrape if I put 100LBs back there....
got back and told the manager that I didnt like the truck and would not be purchasing the truck, as it didnt hold a candle to the way that the titan drove!
(if you have driven an f-150 you know what I am talking about...)
then to teo dodge dealership... with dodge it is official that 80% of thier income is from trucks... or that is what the sales man told me... there were only 2 2500's with the hemi on the lot... the others all had the cummins.. and well that added close to 5000 to the price tag... (mind you BOTH the F-150 and the ram were about 5000-6000 more than the titan... and still with less equipment!)
I told the sales man that I was also looking at a titan and an f-150, but I just crossed the F-150 off my list... with the dodge the ride was there... very truck like... but it (to me) didnt feal as "sturdy" as the titan, and I couldn't buy the 1500, and still have the 9500 LB towing ability... and I think that the ram is FUGLY... just looks like a thing... I have nothing to compare it to... the older ones looked cool... looked like a big rig... but the new ones... looks like a big rig that needs to go on a diet!... so that goes with a thumbs down....
seems no matter how hard I try I am going to be purchasing a titan...
and there is nothing wrong with that.... I will take mine with the popular captian's, Big Tow, and Utility packages, in iether deep water, or smoke...
thanks!

Well it look's like you have done your homework, just like most of us that have purchased our TITAN'S.
I compared them all myself, plus I have owned all the others.
I got the TITAN, and am very pleased with it, it seems to drive better everyday.
Good luck, on your purchase.

One thing that will get the Dodge dealers shaking is if you bring up the fact that the Titan (only rated at a measly 305 HP) actualy puts out 10-15HP more at the wheels than the Dodge Ram Hemi (rated at a whopping 345HP). Dodge has always over rated there trucks and the Dyno sheets i've seen say they overated their hemi by a good 40-50 HP. Depending on the equiptment used, the Titans 5.6 V8 slammed about 282HP at the rear wheels, while the Dodge Hemi sqeezed only 272HP at theirs.
Ford on the otherhand does have a quality product and i think is one of the best looking trucks on the market, but doesnt have the power, towing, or ride quality to stand against the Titan.
Yesterday was our bi-annual reunion party. We all worked together before we retired and get together every other year to keep tabs on how everyone's doing and catch up on the news. There's ususally about 30-40 of us who show up. Always a great party and a lot of fun, even though we're all getting a little long in the tooth.
Two of my old friends couldn't stop looking at my Titan. J-J currently owns a 2000 F150 and the Louie has a Durango...I think it's about a 2002 model. Anyway, they were both drooling so much, I gave them the keys. Now, I'm sure you can understhand what a MAJOR leap of faith that was on my part! I watched them head down the road towards Hiway 285 and didn't see them again for over an hour. Actually, I was getting a little worried, but they finally made it back safe and sound and the truck was still in one piece. They did manage to burn a little over a quarter-tank of gas, though.
Long story short, both of them are going to go shopping for a decent deal on a Titan on Monday. If Tynan's Nissan, Peak Nissan and John Elway Nissan are reading this post, you might want to be on the lookout for J.J. and Lou. These guys are seriously serious and they're guaranteed cash sales.
Now, where's my finder's fee, Nissan ???

Colorado, Good luck with the finder's fee! Glad to hear I'm not the only Senior in the bunch. The Titan makes you feel a bit younger!

Bravo! Both to your faith in their driving, and to your props of the Titan. You reinforce what I feel for my rig, even with the heat issues I've had.
My co-worker buddy got the Ford F-150 in December and didn't even look at the Titan. He LOVES mine, and he's commented on the noticable difference in power between the two. So much that he had a twin exhaust system and a new intake put in so he can "keep up" with me...lol.
Take care!

Yeah, he was quakin' in his boots...Nissan is on track to sell 60,000 Titans this year. Ford will sell over 900,000 2004 F-series trucks, with 84,657 in December alone...and December is traditionally a down month. Personally, I don't think Ford is worried about the Titan at all! Ford has already sold 433,000 F-150's this year, and is the number one selling vehicle (not truck, but vehicle) in the US. Nissan has created a niche for itself...but I don't think the big three are too worried.
I ran into the same thing at a Ford dealership. The funny thing was, the guy had no idea about the Titan. 'Well, it's got a smaller engine than the F150.' He didn't have much to say when I told him actually it's bigger.

Top 3 vehicles in sales (2004)
Ford F-Series
432,969
Chevrolet Silverado
322,907
Dodge Ram
218,369
you cant overtake in one, two or even three model years. its absurd to think so. but, on the other hand, if you think that the big 3 havent taken notice of the quality that nissan put into the TITAN, then you are fooling your self. why is ford working so hard at putting a bigger engine into the next f150, even when they just got finished w/ a major redesign?, the TITAN has raised the bar. why do the magazine articles for the new chevy crew cab 1500 not mention the TITAN?, because it outclasses it.
its very hard to come out w/ a new full size truck in the american market b/c there are so many decent trucks out there and so many loyal customers to buy the same thing year after year.
nissan is not going to make any sales record this year, or next. but if you ignore them, they will blow right past you, just like on the street, lol.
those f150s do have a nice interior, and they sure are pretty.

Your 1st part of your statement is correct about the 900,000 F-series trucks - BUT you go on to say Ford has sold "433,000 F-150's this year" which is vastly incorrect! They have sold that many F-series, which inlude F-250s, 350s and higher! I am not 100% sure of the %s, but I think 40-45% of the F-series sold are 250's and higher. These trucks are not the same as the F-150

Colorado, tell them to check out Marzolff in Pueblo after getting prices in town- they shot me a price online (for 2 vehicles) and no one else could touch them.

Listen, anything that takes MONEY away from company is going to get their attention.........It has been discussed before the combination of Toyota/Nissan with Tundra and Titan sales will pull at least a billion in revenue from the big three.....and it will only get worse for them ( the big three) guess Ford, Chevy, Dogde was not too worried back in the early eighties about the Camry either right? I bet they are worried now.......... Get your facts straight before spouting off about F-150 sales.......433,000 so far this year includes f-250 and f-350's.............you Ford guys are so predictable........."we sell more which means we are better" sorry doesnt work that way......My Nissan will still be running in 15 years when your FORD is sitting rusting in a junkyard.....

Hey Freaky FX4, Keane is right. As a matter of fact, I am almost 100% sure that F250 and above account for more than 50% of the F Series sales because of fleet sales and such. Go pettle you crap else where.
To respond to Nissan Junkie, I got worse treatment at my Ford dealer here in St. Louis Missouri. Mine said, and I quote,
"I can't compete with Nissan on numbers(ie interior room, HP and torque), but we have been #1 for 26 years. I garauntee that if you show up to a job site in a Nissan, by the end of the day your truck will be burried at the bottom of a hole."
So, buy an F-150 because you are a sheep and because you are affraid of what others might do to your Nissan if you buy one was his sales pitch. He really said that he couldn't beat nissan's engine. He really said that. Oh well, it is that kind of attitude that will make you miss the competition blowing right by you.

LOL....man I HATE it when my bed comes off the frame. Hey, there are blind sheep everywhere when it comes to American versus Import. The funny thing is more parts for American trucks are now being made outside the states, and the Titan is manufactured by Americans!
I get major ribbing from my co-workers here about my Titan, but I tell them find a stock hemi that can waste me on the strip and then we'll talk. The only exception is my buddy here who got a F-150 in December. He KNOWS this thing is for real. He likes the Titan's interior better, the engine, the transmission, the styling. He liked the throaty sound so much that he went and put a dual exhaust just to "compete" with me...lol.
Naw, it takes all kinds. I'll never get painted into a corner because I'm blindly loyal. Respect and intelligence, that's the name of the game.
